This particular trip has been on the radar for a year and a half, and we've all been chipping away at these issues that whole time at our respective sites, so we're anxious to get together and compare notes. I totally want to go, but there's no telling how hard it will be to leave for a week that soon after the birth.

I'm light years away from having a kid and I know there's no goddamn way that this is a good idea. I mean, you could try it. But something's got to give once the kid's in the picture because that's priority one.

they at least travel for free. kid would probably sleep the entire time if you planned it at the right time of day.

one of my grade school friends was born in sweden because his parents were on vacation there. (i guess he arrived a little early.) then they flew back with, like, a 1-week old. his mom said he slept the entire time, of course.

SHOW ME THE LONG FORM BIRTH CERTIFICATE.

At what point does it become ok to travel overseas for work once every 6 months?

(edit: in service of the wonderful job that pays us our entire income?)

Damn. Play it by ear, I guess. (though we're just talking about a week here, and in all other cases so far, not longer)

It really does all depend. Just try to grasp that your life really IS about to be turned upside down, even by your MLIA standards, man. It will also take longer than you think to get into a regular routine.

Sounds awful. Best thing about biz trips is getting away from wife/kids. Just get room service, watch tv, and jack it in front of the maid

Oh man, I fully plan on leaning on you 3 monkeys during the hard times. Expect it. Really kind of you all to knock your wives up just a hair sooner than I did, so you could figure everything out for me.

Time before last I was in Cambridge, England, and was bar hopping / looking for a place to eat that took amex. Stopped in a crowded bar, sat alone at a table, ordered a beer, and then these 2 local guys sat down and started chatting. I stayed there until 2am laughing my fucking ass off with them, and wound up having a handful of old peanuts and 5 tall ones for dinner. Those guys were a trip.

The fact that it seems to be entirely trial and error is pretty terrifying

When the red phone rings at 2am, Dave, I need better answers on the other end than this.

And as Dave mentioned, your WIFE could be all kinds of hormonally fucked up afterwards even if you think you're doing just fine. I wouldn't make a lot of travel plans regardless until you know how she's doing.

Drunk 12 year old behind the wheel, now behind bars.

by Terry James on September 2, 2009

A Lincoln suspect was arrested last night for a string of offenses. Lincoln Police Chief Tom Casady indicates his age would surprise many.

“The suspect was taken into custody and arrested forleaving the scene, auto theft, and drunk driving. He tested well over the legal limit at 1.4% and he was a 12 year old Lincoln Boy.â€

A Gwinnett County man is in custody accused of slapping a stranger’s crying toddler in a Stone Mountain Wal-Mart on Monday.

Sonya Mathews, the mother of the 2-year-old child, told police that both were walking in the aisles of the Rockbridge Road store when Roger Stephens, 61, approached and said “if you don’t shut that baby up, I will shut her up for you,â€

Have any sports talk radio people heard about this possible NFL 3-way trade?

Brandon Marshall to AZ, Boldin to KC, Matt Leinhart and a 2nd rounder from KC to Denver.

I have to replace a vacuum hose and brake booster. I talked my shop into rolling the labor into one job (they had to order/install a new vacuum hose, then test the booster, so technically two different jobs), so that took the job from being over $1k down to $940. I then told them to find a trusted used parts supplier and they did, in Atlanta, so the total job is cut to $775. I spent close to $5k on repairs + new brakes + tires in the last year that included new struts, a re-machined head gasket, power steering pump, serpentine belt tensioner, idler pulley, etc.

I think back on how badly I could use that money now and it makes my stomach turn.

Just found out yesterday afternoon another part (the one that caused the brake booster to go bad) has to be replaced at $382 for part/labor. The vacuum pump. WTF? The job is over $1,100 now. I can't be spending that kind of money when it's not budgeted. Fucking piece of shit.

How old is that car? If my car needed 1100 bucks I'd get a new one.

Long story, but I'm stuck with this car.

A friend remarked that he'd seen postings about Glen Beck murdering and raping a young girl in the "80's or 90's". Seems there's a movement out there confronting him with a manufactured birth-certificate style controversy. Kinda funny, but I'm not sure its a good idea.
