I'm still doing it the old fashioned way by using a standalone CD recorder and then ripping from the recorded CD-RW.

This works then, by just plugging the TT into the back of the recorder? You don't need a preamp?

No - either amp has built-in phono pre or else a standalone pp before the tt goes into the amp. You might be able to get a sound straight into the amp, but the levels would be quite low.

Shit. Always somethin'.

Keep an eye out for old integrated amps / receivers in thrift stores- they often had integrated phono-preamps..back when everyone had vinyl. In a lot of cases you can use this as a dedicated phono-pre plugged into your usual integrated amp/receiver...

Is there such a thing as a decent usb turntable sold via Target? I have a wedding registry to fill up.
