sounds like this will be nicely packaged similar to
The Joshua Tree remaster. if so, i'm sure i'll go overboard for the super deluxe version.
Quote:
An advertisement on the "swag" bag being given away at U2's current tour
when you buy t-shirts, etc, confirms U2 will release a remastered cd and
vinyl of "The Unforgettable Fire" in October. It will apparantly be
available in 3 formats, like the Joshua Tree remastered album was. A single
cd, double cd with the 2nd disc full of b-sides and unreleased cuts and a
2cd and 1 dvd deluxe version. The dvd will include at least the official
promo videos (which have already seen multiple dvd release) and possibly a
concert from the tour or at least some live versions of some songs. Perhaps
a few cuts from either Live Aid and/or Self Aid as well. I don't know if it
will include the old 20 minute "Unforgettable Fire" home video documentary
that was already included a few years ago on dvd as an almost throw-away
bonus feature on the "Live At Slane" dvd.
Of the known b-sides recorded and released from this album's sessions that
have appeared on various eps and singles tied to the album, the following
are possible candidates for inclusion on the 2nd bonus cd including the
songs released on the "Wide Awake In America" ep:
* A Sort of Homecoming (Live from Wembley) (4:06)
* A Sort of Homecoming (Live from Wembley Different Mix w/Edge backing vox )
(4:06)
* Bad (Live) (7:59)
* The Three Sunrises (3:52)
* Love Comes Tumbling (4:45)
* Love Comes Tumbling (False Start) (4:45)
* Love Comes Tumbling (Alternate Vocal) (4:37)
* Bass Trap (Instrumental) (5:17)
* Sixty Seconds in Kingdom Come (Instrumental) (3:15)
* Pride (Single Version - longer intro and guitar solo) (4:40)
* Boomerang I (Instrumental) (2:47)
* Boomerang II (4:48)
* 4th of July (Long Version - Instrumental) (2:38)
* Maggie's Farm (Live from Self Aid "Live For Ireland" album) (6:46)
The ad also indicates U2 will continue to upgrade the rest of their catalog
beyond 2009. Likely, the next release will be "Rattle and Hum" for 2010
which literally has mountains of quality b-sides, unreleased songs, live
cuts and footage.
