New album from these Scottish guys. In the vein of their last full-length, but better, imo. Noisier, yet still more melodic (on first listen, mind you). Link over at sordo.

gave it a first listen yesterday. i agree, has the potential to be much better than their debut -- which wasn't so shabby in the first place. these guys deserve more love.

Saw them open for Mogwai earlier this year. I liked them before, loved them after. I may just wait until it's actually released and buy it.

Many of our board patrons will disagree, but this is a year-end threat. They trump the Frightened Rabbit, We Were Promised Jetpacks Scottish drool that's been hanging, to me. Best stuff since JAMC.

And now....back to Lucero.

I'm seeing those 3 bands together in a couple weeks and have been listening to these albums. I love Midnight Organ Fight, like the WWPJ album and am just giving this Twilight Sad album a first listen. I liked but didn't love their first album.

After one listen, I don't like this as much as the FR. It's just a bit more distant and lacks the visceral feeling that MOF has for me. I'll give it some more time for sure, though, as it has the makings of a grower.

Should be a nice triple bill.

I agree Marco. This album and their first are a bit boring. I love FR and WWPJ. It will be a great show.

Their first album, Sing the Greys, is OK, but the one they released last year was brutal. Cheesy music over even cheesier lyrics. Cringeworthy in fact.

Yeah, that's the one. I really wanted to like it cause I liked Sing The Greys but it really was a disappoint for me. I suppose it's catchy and stuff but I couldn't get past the lyrics.

I wasn't speaking for anyone nor discounting anyone's opinion. To each his own. In my opinion, the album is terrible.

Like you, I find the Twilight Sad albums likeable but a bit boring at times.

I suspect that if you like the WWPJ album more than the Twilight Sad, you'll enjoy the Midnight Organ Fight.

I'm going to this tonight. Should be decent. Haven't been to a concert since my son was born....and then get to see Built to Spill on friday. Good week.

This was a great show last night. FR were the clear headliners but WWPJ and TS were also great. TS was far more engaging live than their studio work. You will enjoy.
