Grabbed a couple pieces of vinyl last weekend.

Really dig this In Memory of Don Drummond Disc:
Image

Pre-ska Jamaican music that evolves into the ska era.

But, was pretty disappointed in this Link Wray one (Be What You Want To):

Image

I was pretty excited to play the Link Wray because it was the followup to his self-titled release that I really like a lot. Plus, it was a still sealed promo copy from 1973. But, the music was pretty disappointing for me. A bit too produced and cluttered with Jerry Garcia's stench all over it. Link rarely cuts loose at all.

Yeah, when I snagged it on mp3 awhile back it was a total nostalgia trip. I got Any Which Way You Can as well. I may have to throw these on later.

I still have the 70's printing of this album my uncle gave me. It was my gateway into a lot of other stuff.

Now that we have a record player, I put it on a week or two back, and man did it bring back some memories.

What I bought yesterday is whatever all analog 180g reissue. It's one of the best sounding records I've ever heard, actually.

Man, I've been looking for a good cheap used copy of Zuma for years!

Already got one of Wave.

Hmm, does $7.50 + shipping still qualify as cheap?

Thanks so much!

The disastrous foray into major label bullshit. Band name Teenage Head was too risque apparently, so in its wisdom the label changed it to the plural. Then they got a "producer" to throw the big 80s drum sound onto the mix, because that's what was holding the band back from top 40 stardom. It even looks like the label made the band bathe for the photo shoot. All in all, a serious miscalculation of the target demographic.

I had no idea this tread was back up and running... This was my haul last Friday, though I've gotten some records since then...

Image

Included was:

Early 7" records by Possum Dixon ("Nerves") and the Dambuilders ("Shrine"), along with assorted 7" by RJD2, Elizabeth Elmore, Wolfie, and others...

2 7" ox sets - one the Now-Again RE:Sounds box that came out last year, and one was the 7" set that went along with the first Jabberjaw compilation (Slug, Beck, That Dog, Teenage Fanclub, Karp et al.). Both were sealed, and cost $35 combined...

Full Lengths:

Silver Apples S/T (Reissue)
Nosaj Thing - Drift
Tristeza - 2LP remix compilation
Future of the Left - Curses
Benoit Pioulard - Double vinyl w/ Precis & Temper
Carpenter/Howarth - Halloween 2 OST (super clean vinyl on this one)
Sissy Bar - Magic Bunny EP (10")

...and a bunch of other stuff.

Got a couple things in the mail when I got home last night...

Image
X: Wild Thing 12"
Nice to have for a couple bucks, also included an extended mix of True Love pt. 2 on the flip side.

Image
Aphex Twin: Selected Ambient Works 85-82
Been wanting this on vinyl for a long time and finally found a cheap copy. Not an original, but it is the R&S remaster put out in 2006 that I think actually sounds better than the originals anyway.

I'm envious - only have one Aphex Twin album on vinyl, and that's a test pressing...
