i'm looking for a new phone for miss barker and rogers has these phones on sale right now, each at $29. I know that's a good deal for either (they retail for $599 out of contract) but i can't decide which is the better phone.

The MyTouch/HTC Magic is much more pleasing to the eye and from what I've read has a longer battery life and slightly faster OS, BUT only has a soft keyboard.

The G1/HTC Dream seems to almost be the same phone but does have a slide-out hard keyboard.

Does anyone have either of these/tried them both/heard stuff about them/blah blah blah which one should i get?

My brother has the G1 and likes it a lot. He's tough to please so there's that as well.

just got the mytouch and i love it. i was planning on gettting the g1 because of the keyboard but turns out i am a goddamn wizard with a soft keyboard

meh, sounds scary, but really, I'm gonna be using a cell phone for 3+ more years (probably 50+ more years), and i've been with rogers for 4 years now. don't plan on leaving them. what's a little 3 year commitment gonna do?

Canada has the worst mobile phone plans in the world, although it's negatively correlated with lifespan. There's probably a connection there.

Unfortunately, three years is the standard contract in Canada. Rogers won't let you sign up for a shorter term than that with an iPhone. But at least their service is better than AT&T's. I get five bars of signal wherever I go. I was in the mountains yesterday and I still got 3G.

FYI if you are considering one of these phones, I highly recommend waiting a month and getting the Hero, which is a better phone than those others

My wife and I both have the G1. Best phone i've ever had. If you don't want to slide the keyboard out, there is a soft keypad.

The Hero looks like the g1 with a couple extra buttons and a headphone jack. Headphone jack would be nice. Too bad it's on sprint.

The Hero looks just like the MyTouch 3G. I think the ones in those videos are older versions that look just like the G1.

I think you are more impressed with Android than the phone.

this kinda makes me want to cancel my back-ordered iphone 3gs and wait a month for the hero to launch... hmmmm... damn it, what to do now?...
