It's also goddamn amazing that Nebraska's two highest ranked opponents are going to lose in the first week, since I think Bama will hold on against V Tech.

I must say that I'm encouraged by the Dawg's first half vs. a ranked SEC powerhouse.

We've nearly doubled their offensive output.

BUT threw a pick-six and fumbled on the 2 yard line going in for a TD and alas are down 4 at half-time.

Given where we've come from, I'll take it. We may wind up losing this by 25, but I at least have some hope for the rest of the season. I think we can beat some Pac 10 teams.

Either of you LSU fans still watching?

wasn't quite that crazy today...though I did witness a three-story beer bong promptly followed by puke.

Was I just dialed in, or did it seem like a lot of helmets kept coming off?

I noticed the same thing at the Badger game...it must have happened 5 times during the game.

Locker looked great. I think you're going to beat some teams this year.

Yeah, it's sad to think of the two years he wasted under the mentorship of Willingham, given how good he looked after 8 months with Sark.

We've got some decent talent on offense, but just don't have the athletes on D to compete with the legitimately good teams at this point.

Jefferson looked damn good too. The fact that your D gave up 500 yards to UW is more of a concern though.

Good thing ND's dismissal of Willingham was all racially based and he showed them what he was really about at Washington...

Anyone? anyone?

It was a little odd that Willingham didn't get four seasons at ND like Davies, Faust and everyone else recently, especially after having a rather successful first season.

Plus, Charlie Weis seemed to do wonders with Willingham's recruits and players before sucking up the past two seasons.

He absolutely fell on his face at UDub, but I think he had a smaller margin of error than Davie at ND due to race, since their win percentages were identical yet Bob got two more seasons to fail.

You may be right, BUT:

1. Just as Fat Charlie Weiss won with Ty's players, Ty won with Bob Davie's players. So be fair about that.

2. Maybe, just maybe the alumni felt like they had kept Davie around too long and weren't going to make the same mistake twice, especially considering Willingham's reticence at "playing the game" of being the ND coach (working the good ol' boy circuit and that)

3. George O'Leary.

4. Irish, lol.

Not the defensive performance I was hoping for out of the Tigers, but Washington obviously is much improved. Also, I was a little bummed at no Russell Shepard appearance. I will take the win, though. And I agree with Tanner that you guys are going to cause some people problems in the Pac-10 this year if you can stay healthy.

The more I hear about Oklahoma, the more I don't understand why Bradford came back and how they were ranked so high going into this season.
They had a new offensive line and lost two great receivers from last year.
They were stellar last year, so I can see where you would think they would just reload.

ATLANTA -- Only one game into the season, Georgia coach Mark Richt faces the too-familiar task of replacing a starter on his offensive line.

Richt said Sunday left tackle Trinton Sturdivant suffered a season-ending knee injury in No. 13 Georgia's 24-10 loss at Oklahoma State on Saturday.

Richt said Sturdivant tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee. It is the same knee Sturdivant injured in a preseason scrimmage last year, forcing him to miss the 2008 season.

Sturdivant started all 13 games as a freshman in 2007.

Richt said senior Vince Vance is the likely replacement for Sturdivant in next Saturday's Southeastern Conference opener against South Carolina. Vance replaced Sturdivant last year before also suffering a season-ending knee injury.

Bowl projections already? Really?
How about we see how the teams play first.

Damn it, I wish I had ESPN to watch today's game.

Everyone that really matters has played, no offense Rutgers/Cincinnati and FSU/Miami, so I don't find these bowl projections as ridiculous as the ones that come out going into pre-season camp.

I also enjoy them so you can track how wrong the experts are all year long.
Nebraska made the jump from the Independence to the Gator throughout the year last season.

Bradford came back because he thought they could reload. It's painfully obvious that the O-line isn't even close to being ready. And a part of that is on the coaches.
And Gresham's absence hurt much more than I would have thought.
Landry Jones looked ok,I'm curious to see how he looks with a week's worth of reps and a home game against Idaho St.
I guess if you're gonna lose, lose early.I'm trying to convince myself that.

Lotta rumors are going around concerning Bradford. Looks like he has a grade 2 or 3 AC sprain.
Some are saying out a couple of weeks.
Some are saying out for the year.
Ugh.

ESPN just said Bob Stoops has confirmed that it is at least a grade 2 sprain, but it could be Grade 3.
Grade 2 gives you some hope for a return, Grade 3 means end of the season and usually surgery.

Jake Trotter of the Daily Oklahoman says it will be two weeks before they can even determine if he is healing properly. It is going to be several weeks out either way.
