Milk Kan

Debut full length. English fellas. Light and breezy, folky, acoustic stuff. Good end of summertime nice day listen. Sounds familiar on first listen.

Barbara Manning's SF Seals second full length. Not really sure how I came across this- probably in the 'unlimited download' days of Emusic. 'Ipecac' and 'Pulp' are solid tunes. They also cover 'S.F Sorrow' (Pretty Things) and J. Cale's 'Soul of Patrick Lee'.

Image

Classic Yazoo release - showcases his guitar playing along side constant recording partner Leroy Carr and his piano (along with Tommie Bradley and the unfortunately named Black Bottom McPhail).

The Pretty Things- SF Sorrow. After the SF Seals cover- thought I would play this LP from one of the more neglected "Invasion" bands. Check out 'Private Sorrow'. and Balloon Burning

The Vandelles: Del Black Aloha

Fuzzy distorted guitars and 60s influences make Raveonettes and Jesus & Mary chain obvious touchstones for these guys. Lots of heavy, dark surf rock motifs. Not every song is a winner, but the ones that are make it worth it.

What's this like? The Clientele started off great but they've got worse with every album to the point that I've almost given up on them.
