Did Yoko Ono And Sky News Just Ruin Apple’s Beatles Surprise?

It’s the announcement Steve Jobs has been waiting to make for years: that one of his favorite bands, and perhaps the greatest of all time, will finally be available on the music store that he created. Now he may have just had his thunder stolen. Two hours ago, Sky News reported that the Fab Four are finally coming to iTunes, attributing the news to John Lennon’s widow Yoko Ono, who is in charge of managing the music legend’s estate. The story kicked off with the headline:

“The whole of the Beatles back catalogue will be made available to buy on iTunes, Yoko Ono has told Sky News.â€

In other Beatles news: Pitchfork gave Rubber Soul, Revolver, Sgt. Peppers and Magical Mystery Tour a 10.0 today. The Beatles: Rockband video game received a 9.5

As for your article Dale, I could see Apple being pissed about the news, but I'd put money on EMI being the culprit of the threats if Sky didn't just fuck up again.

Of course, the only way to obtain digital versions of The Beatles catalog online at this point is through piracy.

Or rip the discs you already own.

I bet Paul and Ringo were really sweating this review.

After not knowing what Sun Records was, it is almost amazing that they have spent two days with a boner for old Beatles material and a video game.

I also decided to post it after a number of people here have decried recent 10.0 reviews of other more recent reissue albums.

Let's be honest, the entire world has been crazy for the Beatles for the past 2 days. Pf is just following the rest of the journos.

Yep. Magical Mystery tour is numerically better than Hard Day's Night by 1/3 of a percentage point.

Yellow Submarine, Past Masters and Let it Be failed to receive 10.0 ranking from PF today, and to be honest besides all the Beatles Rockband commercials on television and the PF coverage, I haven't been exposed to much of it from other sources.

I'm not really familiar with Current, I don't listen to NPR and I've consciously avoided Cable News coverage for a few weeks now. All the MJ coverage really started to annoy me and it didn't get any better with Tea Party Express coverage.

Has anyone played Beatles Rock band yet? I almost picked it up today, but figured I'd watch football tonight instead

I got it for the Wii. If you like Rock Band and like the Beatles you'll like the game. Having a Rock Band game that is all good music is great. The animation that Harmonix came up with while you're playing songs is so much better than any previous Rock Band/Guitar Hero game. It also has the option to harmonize for vocals which previous games didn't have. I'll also excited for full albums downloads in the future. The second half of Abbey Road will have the option to play it all as one track.

I just bought the game only and not the instrument bundle. Rock Band 2 sets are really cheap right now and the Beatles instruments are way overpriced.
