Has any traditional rivalry game lost its luster more in recent years than Miami/FSU? I used to really look forward to it, now I might flip over a couple times.

Ohio St/Michigan was the big one when I was growing up, but I probably wouldn't watch it at all now. Miami/FSU is just heartbreaking, moreso because Florida can still get it done.

Nebraska-Oklahoma was always a game until the Big 12 formed. During the 80's and 90's it always seemed like the Big 8 Champ and the winner of Miami/FSU would play for the title in the Orange Bowl.

I was alive for three of Nebraska's five title games, that's more titles than nearly anyone else can say on here.

Edit: and alive to see them lose several more games where they could have won the title.

This Miami-FSU game is hellaciously entertaining, despite my deep hatred for both teams.

I'm kind of pulling for Miami. I'd rather see Randy Shannon succeed and Bowden be forced into retirement this year.

As an ND fan, I am contractually obligated to hate Miami.

But you're cool, T.

Seems like both programs are starting to (FINALLY!) turn the corner.

Come on Bob, you jump back on the bandwagon again after a shut out against Nevada? On average, the Wolfpack lose by 26pts on the road against BCS conference teams. Hell, even a 5-7 Nebraska team beat Nevada by 42 a few years back.
ND can't say they turned the corner until they beat someone else besides Hawaii in a bowl and score more than 3pts against USC this year.

Sports Xtra's Mark Rodgers has confirmed that University of Oklahoma tight end Jermaine Gresham is out for the season.

Gresham injured his knee during a practice before the Sooners' 14-13 loss to Brigham Young in Dallas. He did not play in the game.

The Oklahoma tight end returned to the team for his senior season.

Preseason basketball starts in 4 weeks...

Son of a bitch. Two guys turned down big $ for one more year of college, and this is what happens. Sucks. Here's hoping they both are at or near 100% when the NFL combine rolls around.

UGA is 0-0 in SEC play.

This season begins Saturday.

Also, this thread smells like mothballs after Prometh threw up some Husker teams from the 70's.

I also threw up the 1993-1997 Nebraska Cornhuskers. The team that Tim Tebow and Company are trying to emulate by winning three titles in four years and back to back titles.
BTW, the Husker were 60-3 during that time period. The 2006-2009 Florida Gators are currently 36-6.

Good Luck against Spurrier. I know some of the recent games have been close.

I got ya. It just kind of sounds like living in the past. Sounds like a lot of Bama fans I know who love to throw out all their SEC Championships and National Titles from yesteryear. Granted they were pretty good last year and are looking good early but for most of the decade they were pretty mediocre to downright terrible. Bear Bryant is still alive to these people.

Should I start mentioning UGA's 1942 National Title? I'm not above turning the barrell towards myself though. We haven't played in the SEC Title game in 3 seasons now and UF is only getting stronger.

Thanks for the luck against the Cocks. It'll be a defensive slugfest once again I'm sure. It always is. The last 8 times we've met it's been decided by a touchdown or less 6 times. I credit it to the fact that we meet so early in the year every year and Defenses are usually ahead of offenses at this point. Not to mention that they consider Clemson and us their main rivals.

I wouldn't haven mentioned any of it, had Putin not said something as asinine as he did above about people not looking forward to a Nebraska game.
Most of that shit died with Callahan, although Lawrence Phillip's recent criminal convictions inspired some recent attacks on that era. Also for all the Teebowner coverage there is out there now, his career record sucks compared to Tommie Frazier.

I figured the Dawg fans still throw out the last title with Herschel Walker now and then.
