The more I think about it I should just replace the french press, which I loved.

Plus, my gf would just scold me for needlessly spending money (which is something I tend to do). Thanks all for your input.

I think black putin has one of those machines. My mom does, and I enjoy it well enough, but I've only had the Paul Newman coffee from it.

I currently use a french press for coffee, and while I like it, I wish it'd keep shit hot longer. I guess that just guarantees freshness, though.

Thermal French Press is what we have. Second one down.

Keeps shit hot for a long time.

I also have a thermal press at work from Ikea. Although it's essentially the same, the coffee isn't as good, but that could also be the grinder (cheap mr. coffee) or the water from the fountain.

I went buck and got a water cooler for the house. We have one at the office and it's great. No more ATL fecal matter in my coffee pot :)

They ship.

I think we have a winner in the context of the "snob" part of the thread title:

Has anyone had any Ritual coffee? I'm thinking about picking some up from the new cheese store down the street. Lately I've been ordering La Colombe and Stumptown blends over the internet, which is fantastic but sucks because of shipping charges.

After my last French Press broke, I picked up a Chemex and love it.

Still use the nespresso machine for the other stuff.

Currently have a little bit of this left at the office (I have a 4-cup Mr Coffee in my office)
Image

The other coffee drinkers in the office drink Dunkin Donuts coffee which is kind of "meh", but works if you're looking only for a caffeine buzz.

We have some of this at home:

I usually try to buy from our local fair trade organic bean roaster, Bongo Java, and the roaster from my hometown, Cafe Campesino, which coincidentally buys from the same growers as Bongo Java.

The real question is: how do you take your coffee?

I'm assuming that most of we coffee snobs take it black and filtered with distilled or bottled water so as not to taint the pure coffee taste?

I'm two Splendas or Truvia and a dash of whatever cream or creamer is around.

Black coffee.

How's that chemex? Is it slow to brew?

Ever worry about breaking it?

i drank black for years but am far too impatient to wait for it to cool so i started splashing half and half but started to dislike what it did to my stomach. the next best thing that's always in our fridge is soy milk.

i take a thermos with me for warm ups/after lunch though and its always black.

I've been drinking Peet's (always to go) for 30 years. Without it, I'm an absolute effin mess. As a result of my "addiction", it's a bit of a problem on holiday when nothing comes close, so I'll typically drink 3-4 shots of espresso to achieve the 'pedro buzz'. My wife has been trying to ween me off this mud for years.

oooh, I like Green Line. A friend of mine worked there for years. Still, I can't go to the East Coast without loading up on Colombe.

I really like it, the only real drawbacks are that it pretty much needs chemex filters and can be hard to clean. It pours pretty fast. I usually drip some water in there for a few minutes just to wet the grinds, but after that I can have a 6-cup pot filled in like 5 minutes?

It pretty much lives on the counter next to the espresso machine, so I don't worry about breaking it so much. If I had kids it'd probably be a different story. I have the model with the glass handle:

which I've heard is a lot easier to deal with than the kind with the wood.

I was underwhelmed by Stumptown. Joe in the blue bag wasn't bad, but my favorite is still the Cuvee El Salvadors if it's hot, and Roger's Blend from Central Market for cold brewing.

Seriously great coffee. I just stumbled in there one day, while making the first HoP album. (It's right across the street from the studio).
If you have a similar Puerto Rican cafe/bakery around you, I suggest checking it out.

I've been on the Cafe Bustelo for a while. Pretty cheap, strong, and good.

I have a coffee maker but preferred the french press my brother took with him when he moved out. I can get another one of those, but was just weighing my options. Or maybe I should just stick with the coffee maker I currently have but don't ever use.

I bought a Keurig around xmas last year- I wouldn't give it up for anything. Fuck all that roast your own and burr grind and water from the fountain of youth and genuflect to the coffee gods. A Keurig and any extra bold variety from Coffee People (Jet Fuel and Black Tiger are my current favorites) is all the coffee I'll ever need.

Man, I love soy milk. I can sit down and drink glass after glass of it. I prefer it to regular milk on cereal.

But I can't drink it in coffee. Something about that just doesn't work for me.

I pretty much always drink my coffee black these days unless I'm at a restaurant and their coffee tastes way too strong or burned. Either case seems to be pretty common at most places.

i'm definitely a coffee snob. living in Portland, OR for 6 years made me a diehard fan of Stumptown. whole bean, course grind, french press, fair trade, organic beans, make the hair on your neck stand up, strong coffee. i currently live in Indiana and buy bags of Stumptown when i go back to Oregon, and if i run out before i can get back, i have it shipped. that's snobby and i don't care.
