That was the median income for the USA in 2008 according to the Census Bureau Report.

The Poverty Rate moved up to 13.2% meaning 39.8 million people were living in poverty last year and 46. 3 million people were without health care.

I personally did not come close to reaching that, but the median income for a male, full-time worker in Nebraska is substantially lower than that. It hovers somewhere around 39K.

Mortgage = 2000 per month
