i thought it was just dumb. i think i wanted more politics and I got the Cantina scene + guns.

i thought it was great. Also went in with high expectations and wasnt disappointed. Right off the bat a liked it when i saw the setting was in Johannesberg instead of Manhattan like most Hollywood movies would do. And somehow gained empathy for the protaganist, who wasnt terribly likeable at first, and the aliens, who showed some heart despite being dsimissed as prawns by most of the humans. The aliens came off as totally believable - i somehow believed after watching this that it was totally possibly an alien encounter could play out this way. The side addition of the africans who wished to eat the aliens to gain power was an interesting addition.

Yeah I liked it too. I would totally own one of those cute little alien babies if they sold them, like, in pet shops.

I had no idea what this movie was about before I saw it and was thoroughly entertained.
