It is now official - I will be a PhD student in UT's Ecology, Evolution, and Behavior program starting this coming fall. I had heard positive feedback from my potential advisor, but now I know for sure.

Here's to Obner All-Skates @ SXSW 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, and 2010!

Funny I thought the same thing. My five years of hell are up exactly one month from now.

Congrats though, from what you've described before, it sounds like you've got a great lab. Best of luck!

as my dear old uncle joe said to my cousin upon graduating from college (we're first generation college):

so are you gonna amount to much more than a pimple on a monkey's ass with that?

but really, congrats, colin.

Serious Congratulations man. Great accomplishment for ANYONE, no matter who you are or where you're from in the world.

Now, please discover how to:

A) Make ocean water into fresh water

B) A device that turns your own pee into water (aka the Waterworld device)

C) A new strand of Cannabis that will get you higher than anything the planet has ever seen while ENHANCING brain cells.

D) A new form of petrol that as it burns produces ozone particles while giving me 100 miles to the gallon.

k thnx

Dude, we learned how to do that in girl scouts. Didn't your folks allow you extracurriculars?

"Urine osmosis purification" wasn't on my merit badge list.

I can tie the hell out of a sheepshank or a square knot though.

Yeah, I never got the sheepshank. We'll need one of each of us on that shipwreck island.

Our scout leader was pretty strange. We toured an abbatoir, too. I was one of like two 8-year olds left standing.
