Yeah, I am guessing with some of the people on here, either they are younger and/or have not started their "career" per se, or will work their way up.

Before I met Femgar we each would have been below this. Together probably a little above. This year has definitely been a good one for me in terms of business.

I'll keep y'all posted on how good when I meet with the accountants to discuss projected earnings quarterly tax payments next week. FML

If you are not a contractor you don't make that in Vermont. I am not a contractor and as much as my job is "just retail", it's actually one of the better jobs in my valley (that is not a trade).

Now accepting applications for an able, working husband.

There aren't many singles on Obner... could we even make one episode of the Dating Game?

I'm a little above, but it has to feed 5 mouths, pay for 1 mortgage, cover 1 car payment, cover 1 ten year old car repairs, pay student loans, and fend off big credit card bills.

Total income this year will definitely be lower than last.

I believe it's rather unfair to include either coast since the cost of living tends to be higher. Hence, higher salaries.

You are aware of how they calculate a media, yes?

I'm single, but I think the reasons are now evident in this thread and the "hermaphrodite" thread.

Older, white, professional and over-educated. I am at the peak of my earning power and I work three jobs. My partner and my combined income put us far into the upper middle class... and we are comfortable but have little cushion for economic emergency or retirement.

I absolutely cannot understand how people can afford children. And I am baffled how we can ignore the millions and millions who live in poverty in our midst.

Oh, and media is plural.

I read it as Tania empathizing with the low-earners of Obner, since most are from the Midwest/Flyover Country.

Also: ne'er-do-wells & life failures.

That is exactly what I was implying.
