Ok, labor started for real last night around 11. Finally. These contractions are 5 mins apart and MUCH more severe.

before my parents came in to the room to see my daughter i asked the nurses if they were planning on cleaning up the blood on the floor and doing something with the placenta in the plastic tray. they just looked at me and laughed. looked like a goddamn murder scene in there and there's still blood stains on my sneakers

have fun!

actually....
in many cases the placenta goes to pathologists to evaluate gross and microscopic pathology.
and depending on the facility,
many times they harvest the cord blood for bone marrow transplants.

funny that they didn't provide shoe covers.

No. Shit.

Still no baby. Full dilation has taken awhile, and now she's exhausted (understandably, since this started right at bedtime last night).

Geez. Let's get this train moving baby squirggle.

I have no frame of reference for this kind of waiting - we did a c-section and the whole process lasted about 20 minutes.

You mean, "denied your wife and children the most blessed gift they could ever receive and were snookered by the medical industrial complex into unnatural and unneeded procedures"

Do you really hate the idea of home births this much Dave or are you just "getting my goat" again? I'm honestly too tired to tell.

Ha ha.

My wife will trade this "blessed gift" for being in the hospital when she started having heart failure complications.

Whatever floats your boat, man. We live in a society that allows us choices.
