I finally got around to listening to this over the weekend. Certainly good as expected, but nothing spectacular to me. It seems like I always feel this way about them. Almost every year they release an album and it ends up somewhere between 20-25 on my year end list, never higher, never lower. That's not a bad thing by any means, but I'm ready for them to do something that absolutely blows me away.

Yeah. I don't really think this one is as good as their last two, but those were plenty satisfactory for me. This one just lacks that certain something, some memorable moment or anything really distinctive. A little disappointing but still very good.

It's quite good. The vox are tight, and the guitars have the usual Shazam crunch and pop. This and the Sour Jazz have made my commutes quite enjoyable.

a new Nurse With Wound? Interesting...

*edit*
Might as well post my current list while I'm at it.

01 (tie). The Dirty Projectors - Bitte Orca
01 (tie). Sonic Youth - The Eternal
03. St. Vincent - Actor
04. The xx - xx
05. Gomez - A New Tide
06. Black Joe Lewis and the Honeybears - Tell 'em What You Got
07. mewithoutYou - It's All Crazy! It's All False! It's Alright.

need to really listen to the paper chase and japandroids, both of which I have but haven't had a chance to really give much time to.

#3 and #4 could switch spots... and number 4 could drop completely on more listens. But the first two should be fairly solid at this point.

Yeah, and it's quite good, which is more than a (a bit of) pleasant surprise. No matter how many times I get burned I will still buy anything by them and Current 93, so after dropping way too much money over the years to get a near complete discography I kind of feel a bit rewarded with this album. If you're interested let me know, more than happy to send it your way.

I keep expecting to get hooked by this one, but it hasn't happened yet...

The new Bloody Panda is bloody good... and the new Anti-Pop Consortium and Health'll probably be top-10 by the time all is said and done.

Yeah, that's where I am.

It's a nice-sounding record and all, and that's probably why I had it pretty high on my list a while back. I kinda gave it the benefit of the doubt because I thought it would get better as I got more into it. Hasn't happened, and I'm starting to give up.

Where'd this come from? Heard some hype earlier this year, remember them having a bit of a JAMC / low-fi sound. See they're touring with The Horrors and Raveonettes. Seems fitting.

I listened to it for the first time a few months ago and it didn't really impress me enough for a second listen. Recently, however, I came across it on my computer and this time around, it clicked immediately. Initially, it doesn't sound like much but damn, after repeated listens, the melodies really draw you in.

Sounds like what happened for me with The Big Pink.

The Big Pink, incidentally, has yet to do it for me. I'm a little disappointed simply because I really wanted to like it.
