Anyone see this?

I found myself liking this more than I wanted to, and I think it's got some room to move around (I love how he's using a Chandler book as a guide to PI work). I've read a little of Ames' work (The Alcoholic graphic novel) and heard him on The Moth and he seems to have a pretty good sense of storytelling/humor, so hopefully this'll turn into something.

It could be a little less idiosyncratic Brooklyn to me, but I managed to get past it. Not sure if that will continue.

My apologies if there's another thread about this, but I searched the site for "Bored to Death" and my hard drive melted.

i have to admit i liked it more than i thought as well, especially given how much schwartzman tends to bug me. still don't love it but will give it a fair shot.

I watched the second half of it, and that should last me the next 30 years or so. I'm still pissed I sat through an entire season of "Hung" and those buttfaced twins.

I feel like this show is BEAUTIFULLY shot; the soundtrack is good; and, it has Zack Galifinakis in it. However, I thought the narrative was pretty weak. I did chuckle a few times--mainly due to Zack G.

Girlfriend: (taunting) "oh, those are big words for you. Where did you read them? Your comic books?"

Zack: (pouting/crying) "No. I read them in my diary".

Overall, I will continue to watch it because it satisfies my urge for pretension a la Wes Anderson films, but if I miss an episode, I ain't gonna be upset.

I didn't like this enough to give it another try. It occured to me that Shwartzman's training in the Wes Anderson movies has not made him much of an actor. He's used to long shots of him staring off into the distance while on a train or bus as a Cat Stevens song plays in the background. When he actually has to convey any emotion other than boredom, he struggles.

The music was good though - Tobias Froberg!

I really liked it, but I have read a few of his books. Will definitely stick with it. Schwartzman is great as the main character.

I liked it, but I have a thing for Schwartzman, even though he's kind of hairy. I tend to like the character(s) he plays and think he does it well.

Can't imagine I won't be catching the rest of the season.

I try not to come out with the stupid comments, but I notice hair. Particularly on guys I'm attracted to. I don't know why.

Definitely not Robin Williams. No one should require a comb for their forearm. He's probably high yellow to low orange on the terror alert scale.

I once heard someone describe the similarities between wiping his ass and getting peanut butter out of the carpet.

This is awesome. I will be utilizing this comparison in the future. Just notifying you that I will be stealing it.

Haha. Not at all. I mean, I have a beard, so yes, but I didn't mean to imply I'd be using the comparison for myself.

I don't have a problem with facial hair. A guy can do whatever he wants with his face.

It's the hairy chest or arms that I have to work through.
