I don't really care to argue whether the 00's is the worst decade of music since Elvis came on the scene or not. It might be but that doesn't mean there's not lots of good stuff that came out in the 00's. If I were to judge the 90's by pitchfork's top 100's of the 90's list, I might think the 90's were at least equally bad. But I know better, there was lots of good stuff that came out in the 90's too. Neither decade's music resonates as strongly with me as that of the 70's, 60's, and 80's. I'm not going to put down a whole decade of music though. If you can't find stuff you like from any decade, you aren't looking very hard.

This.

I thought that 200-151 was pretty good, considering, but 150-101 is pretty shitty. Only like 3 albums I really care about out of that bunch.

they're very good friends. Members of both bands "involved" etc.

I think the only disagreement I've had was with their placement of the M83 records. "Dead Cities..." imo is one of the best of the decade, and it was lower than the latest offering.

i actually think the opposite, the 101-150 list is pretty damn good. some of my favorite albums from this decade are on there like Blueberry Boat, Picaresque, XTRMNTR, Up the Bracket, ( ), New Amerykah Part One: 4th World War, Neon Golden, Stories From the City, Stories From the Sea, Hot Shots II, Oh, Inverted World, LCD Soundsystem, The Reminder, †, Give Up and the excellent Franz Ferdinand debut.

They should fire the reviewer who says that the s/t Libertines is a "disappointing follow up" to Up The Bracket

I haven't listened to that album in ages. I really need to go back and get some. and probably buy some pot.

incidentally, the movie still comes up before the album when googled.

A list with 200 records on it is just bullshit.

Ranking any more than 50 or so is pointless.

I think in the end they're going to reveal that all of the albums were chosen - or at least ranked - at random.

VAMPIRE WEEKEND AT #50 FOLKS

I mean, I've defended that band/album in the past, but fuck that.

Actually, it's #51 but yeah, way too high for that album.

So far 51-100 has been the least-interesting to me I think.

You don't have to link to it every day. I think we all know where it is.

Today was a slight improvement, I guess. A semi-redemption. But it still kinda irks me to see something I love as much as The Argument ranked just below shit like Luomo, Burial, and The National.

I know there are a lot of factors involved - different reviewers, opinions/impact of albums changing with time, etc. but it bothers me that, for example, they give Boxer a better review than Alligator but rank it lower. Also, ST&C had the notorious review of a perfect 10.0 when it was released but now is ranked #100 of the decade.

I try not to take this too seriously but Pitchfork has always annoyed me in this regard.

This is what you get for reading Pitchfork.

That'd be a good reason for them to shut down the site forever.

You'll either be heartened or appalled, actually scrub that you probably won't care a jot, but there is very little cross over here with Konstantiranks, which lets face it, is the original and definite list of this decade.

Maybe one day you'll see it.
