i imagine their coffee must be like those all-in-one machines that spits either a cappucino/latte/hot chocolate that you see in a jiffy lube or gas station.

No shit, did they get that from generic.stockimages.com?

I'll go to the QT (convenience store chain) waaaaay before I'll go to McD's for coffee. Or anything for that matter: QT has a mean breakfast burrito and $1 tamales if you are so inclined.

From what my wife, the starbuck's manager, told me... over 60% of the world's coffee is consumed in Europe where of that 60%, 80% drink instant. The instant market is billions of dollars. So maybe that's who they're marketing it to. It's not like they're giving up brewing real coffee.

Also, if you like it you can buy it for cheaper by the dozen.

Vermont's not keen on letting much big business in and they stick by that pretty well. It's fantastic and annoying all at once.

So Euro's not only like to eat feces, they like to drink it as well?

I'm looking forward to house hunting up there.

And instant Starbuck's sounds appalling.

Cheaper than normal gas doesn't hurt QT either. Used to always stop there on 316.

As for Starbucks, their coffee is drinkable. Once I let it cool down a bit, I can typically chug it. Drive-throughs are also good for roadtrips. Crazy that they're even in relatively rural areas off the interstate now.

I must be the only person in America that is basically never anywhere near a Starbucks. I don't mind their coffee, but I'm never around one.

Mostly just wanted to say, Quick Trip is the best gas station/convenience store ever...although I am still pretty well dedicated to just making coffee at home. Get a can of Bustelo for the same shit those Cubanos are making. Easy and pretty cheap, made right in my kitchen.

I've never had the McDonald's Lattes, but there is no appreciable difference between McDonald's reg. coffee and Starbucks. Both are better than Dunkin Donuts. But we've have enough local chains that I don't really need to get either. But Louisiana has always had outstanding coffee, long before Starbucks got started.

I'm just finishing up my first can of Bustelo. Good stuff. Is it only available ground, or do they sell whole bean too?

WaWa - but there's no gas at WaWa so it gets points deducted.

Only ground as far as I know. But, I'm pretty much addicted to the stuff, although I will occasionally squeeze in a can of cafe du Monde, another pretty solid yet cheap coffee.

I'm no Wawa fan, but probably 2/3 of them around here have gas. It's usually a nickel or so cheaper a gallon, too.

I've never had the coffee at Sheetz, but when you can order up a chili dog at the pump, does it really matter?
