22 Miami (FL) 2-1 665
23 Oregon 3-1 620
24 Nebraska 3-1 409
25 Missouri 4-0 404

Other teams receiving votes: Auburn 366; Georgia Tech 340; South Florida 308; South Carolina 144; Wisconsin 119; Utah 84; UCLA 55; Notre Dame 51; Texas A&M 30; North Carolina 9; Stanford 9; Washington 6; Arizona 5; Indiana 5; Connecticut 4; Southern Miss 3; Florida State 2; Kansas State 2; Minnesota 2; Pittsburgh 2; Iowa State 1; Texas Tech 1.

I would only say that they should flip-flop California and Oregon if they are going to be that close together in the polls after Oregon annihilated the Bears. Other than that the only real ridiculous thing I see is Kansas State and Iowa State receiving votes. Kansas State lost to La-Lafayette for christsake.

USC running back Stafon Johnson is having throat surgery Monday after a weightlifting accident in a campus weight room.

The senior was bench-pressing in the morning with a spotter when the bar fell out of his right hand and landed on his throat, according to a report on USC's Web site.

Stafon Johnson leads the team in touchdowns.

Johnson is in critical but stable condition, a California Hospital Medical Center spokesperson told the Los Angeles Times Monday evening.

"It hit him with a lot of force, and it hurt him," coach Pete Carroll said after the Trojans' brief practice Monday night. "No broken bones as far as I understand, but he's got some damage in there somewhere, and they're working it out, trying to figure out what it is."

The Trojans' head strength and conditioning coach Chris Carlisle said that the bench press is one of the safest exercises in the weight room.

"I've seen players have the bar slip and fall onto their chest, but never in my 25 years of coaching have I heard of someone dropping a bar on their throat," said Carlisle, who according to the Web site was within 10 feet of the accident. "We're fortunate he was being spotted."

Wisconsin wins 31-28 and was parading the gigantic axe about the field.

It was nice to see Arkansas State push that Iowa Hawkeye team in a 24-21 loss, especially after Nebraska beat them 38-9 and scored 24 points in the first half against the Red Wolves.

Maryland beat Clemson and Virginia beat North Carolina. I think it's time to put the ACC in Division III.

I saw those two scores and was pretty much thinking the same thing.

Helluva game, Marco. Locker is a bad ass. Really like Sark's sideline demeanor. OT awaits...
