Watched this last night. Excellent documentary. Should be made mandatory that every North American over the age of 20 watches this film.

Why?

Because it would open the eyes and minds of people who have been brainwashed by the american government. It could assist in the end to the dumbest prohibition in the history of man. A prohibition that has pushed us to harm the earth to the tragic state it's in today.

If the countless known uses for hemp were utilized, the world would be a MUCH better place.

World hunger? No other plant source, not even the soybean, compares to hemp in its range and balance of nutritional benefits, making hemp the world’s premier food source. Hemp seeds have fiber, protein and essential fatty acids

Pollution and declining fossil fuel reserves? Hemp can be used to produce non-toxic diesel fuel. Because hemp produces more biomass than any other plant species that can grow in a wide range of climates and locations, hemp could be a major source of ethanol fuel.

Deforestation? Hemp paper does not need chlorine bleach, which heavily pollutes rivers near wood-pulp paper mills. Environmentally-sound Hemp paper is stronger, finer and longer-lasting than wood-based papers. Hemp paper does not yellow or crack like conventional paper. The first two drafts of the U.S. Constitution were written on hemp paper and are still crisp and white.

You can build a house with hemp. Used to produce caulking, cement, fiberboard, flooring, insulation, paneling, particleboard, plaster, plywood, reinforced concrete and roofing. WHY are we bulldozing our rain forests??

That's just the start of the many uses.

The REAL question is.... why is it illegal?? Because it's a drug? Wrong. You can not get high by smoking hemp. Regardless the government has grouped the two together (hemp and marijuana).

I could go on and on. All in all, it's fucking STUPID that this prohibition has gone on this long.

Watch the movie. I can't even begin to explain the whole thing. The film does, and it's much more entertaining.

Watching M Night Shamalamadingdong's "The Happening" and the dialogue is so... Incredibly... Bad. Marky Mark is exactly like the Andy Samberg skit where he talks to a donkey. Fuck who keeps bank rolling these guys?

I kind of like 'The Happening'; all those suicides gave me hope that natural selection is still capable of large variance surprises.

Yup. Didn't do it for me at all. Watch whenever Kristen Stewart has a dramatic scene--she puts her hand in her hair! I nearly started a drinking game.

Saw Whip It this afternoon. Solid film, a goodly number of laughs -- aided in no small meaure by Ellen Page's presence -- but nothing spectacular. See it from Netflix.

When I saw it yesterday, there was some sort of commotion that required the theater to turn the lights on and stop the movie, By the time they had done so, whoever needed the lights on had already left. I thought maybe someone had fainted, but I doubt they would have recovered in a couple of minutes and walked out on their own.

Anyhoo, chaos reigns.

Doubt - Man this is a hard one to review. Nothing to really point at and say, "That sucks!" Excellent acting, but that's not too surprising. I think this is another play that was made into a movie that just doesn't quite make the transfer very well. The cinematography was good until the director would inexplicably shoot something diagonally. The subject matter seemed right up my alley, but after it was all said and done, nothing was really accomplished. Still a pretty good movie. Just not so sure I would recommend that anyone spend their time watching it.

The Matrix
It's been years since I've watched this, and the prior time my impressions weren't too favorable. However, giving myself some distance from this movie seems to have worked as I ended up finding it to once again be fairly compelling and entertaining.

I didn't go see N&N Inf. Playlist because I thought it looked really pretentious and indie for the sake of being indie. I caught it on Starz randomly the other day and I laughed my ass off at certain parts of that movie. Ah well.

Cheesy horror night at the drive in over the weekend. Sorority Row followed by Jenifer's Body. Neither in the slightest more than low brow slasher crap, no matter what people try to tell you about Jenifer's Body. Still, both were good fun with Jenifer's Body being the better of the two if ya gotta pick.

Oh...and for a chilly night of sitting around with the windows rolled down, a thermos of very strong hot toddies works out quite well.

despite it starring Charlotte Gainsbourg, I don't think I can sit through the Anti Christ.
Lars von Trier is just a cruel man.

this was fantastic:

Speaking of SyFy channel bad, I finally watched this yesterday after DVR-ing it from SyFy a few weeks back:
Image

It stars Deborah "Don't Call me Debbie" Gibson and Lorenzo Lamas. It was amazingly bad but awesome, though I was actually surprised at some of the cinematography. Gibson lisps her way through the character of a respected oceanographer and Lamas is some badass government dude dressed in all black.

And I found out that this and other Asylum films/ripoffs can be watched instantly on Netflix - Transmorphers (ripoff of Transformers), The Day the Earth Stopped (The Day the Earth Stood Still), etc. These will be watched very soon.
