has anyone heard this? I searched from my phone on the john but its hard, so if I missed the thread, punch me in the throat.
 
So it seems like they've lost the kinda catchy guitar builds that I liked about their last album (on songs like "Smokers outside the hospital doors" and "racing rats") in favor of Depeche Mode synths and shooting their drummer in the face. I'm trying to imagine that I'm an about-to-be-dumped 16 year old version of myself to really get into this, but its hard. Almost owes something to the Faint, I guess.  Am I way off-base on this?  I may just get a head-start on the 2009 "Biggest Disappointments" thread and throw this and the new Rumble Strips under a bus.
 
(do people still say "under the bus"?  I'm kind of out of the loop nowadays)

I haven't heard it but the wife is already making noise about seeing them when they come to town, somehow.

i was definitely caught off guard on first listen. liked it a little better on second listen, but haven't gone back yet. i don't think it'll be in the same league as their first two when it all settles.

i feel like they are now fully aping the joy division -> new order trajectory. a lot of these songs remind me of the more synth-heavy JD songs like "isolation".

a few catchy/cheesy songs, but overall mucho lame.

Yeah, this was just awful. I tried once again and deleted it.

that has me sort of intrigued but i don't think i've ever liked this band.


edit: yeah, after listening to clips on myspace i've decided against this.

i am completely over this band. no thanks.
