maybe i'm in the minority here, but Yellowstone is close to the bottom of my list of the best NP's out there that i've visited. now of course this is like ranking the best pizza place in NYC, even the bottom half are "must-try". but seriously, way overrated. the park itself is enormous, but the "attractions" are few and far between. the grand canyon of the yellowstone is the standout. old faithful is a one and done experience. the sulfur springs are cool, but again this is a park you only spend a day at, maybe two. i went back in '95 and half the park was still re-growing from wildfires...not sure if that's gotten better. we camped there, and while waking up and unzipping the tent and seeing a herd of buffalo maybe 50 yards from us was something i won't soon forget, i've not felt the urge to go back at all. in fact, i've since gone back to Grand Teton NP -- which is maybe 20 miles south of Yellowstone -- 3 times since '95, and not even considered going a little further north one more time.
I'll have to agree with you, but our proximity to see these parks makes it once maybe twice in a lifetime. I'm glad we went. Tetons were beautiful Jellystone, too. Probably won't be back.
I'm in the Everglades at least one week a year(for the last 17) and Biscayne National Park almost every weekend(so is the rest of water bound Miami), and fairly unfettered waters of the Bahamas a couple of times a year. Once every now and then we hit the Blue Ridge. In all honesty it's great when your are planning to go to one, but otherwise I am not thinking of them much.
