To be honest, it's one of many things that have come to dwarf the twin underpinnings of Deadspin's rapid ascent (those being Carl Monday: Public Masturbation Tactical Team & Chris Berman's affection for Leather).

Mangino & Obie, Baby Mangino, "So Cold in the D"... Fuckin' a. Righteous.

The downside is that it makes people like you think you are funny when all you are doing is regurgitating other people's material.

Lastly, I don't know how the other schools are, but during the Nebraska Fan day at the start of Fall Camp a huge group of slutty girls comes scantily dressed to this event in order to pick up football players.

Oh yeah, most of the schools down here even have little white Baptist chicks love their team (AKA who fiend for black dong) "escort" recruits on official visits and the like.

to add a little bit here:
There were rumors that the woman who brought Phillips over to Scott Frost's apartment that night was somehow involved with Frost and this was some sort of set-up.
There were also rumors that Phillips was well aware that his on again off again girlfriend had been sleeping with Frost before he confronted them and that Frost had publicly made it known in the locker room.

I want to add another comment to this that is not directed toward Notre Dame.
This is a college football thread and that was a great football match-up. It was one of a few games this week to feature ranked teams, and both teams had went to a bowl and shared the divisional title last year. I didn't expect too many people to watch it, since their was a shit ton of good tv on that night, but I was throwing it out there for the casual college football fans.
I don't expect you to like or care about Husker Football, just like you don't expect me to care or like reading about the Cowboys, Notre Dame, the Spurs, Rangers, etc. etc. I just choose to include it in a sports discussion, the same way everyone else does for their Obner teams.
We have one person who really likes Washington, one who really likes UCLA and one who really likes Cincinnati and we all seem to appreciate their contributions to this thread.

I guess I never knew that Frost was cuckolding Philips, or that the woman who got dragged down the steps was dragged from Frost's apartment. Interesting.

You can lobby for Navy to drop their September 4th game next year, and I can lobby for the Huskers to drop their game against Western Kentucky that day. Then Nebraska can meet up against Navy here in Lincoln. The Midshipmen have yet to play a game against the Huskers. The Huskers are only 4-3 against the other Service Academies, but won the last match-up against Army 77-7 at West Point in 1972.

Though I'm very disappointed in LSU's offensive play and gameplan, that game really doesn't mean much in the grand scheme. If we win out, we get another shot at the Tebow's in Atlanta. If we win there, BCS 'ship. Not that I see that happening with this team right now. Crowton has crawled into a playcalling hole, and I wonder how much Miles's input has to do with it.

Nebraska now ranked #15 by the AP, #17 by the Coaches.
Bama is now #2 in the AP
South Carolina and South Florida now make appearances in both polls as does Notre Dame at #25.
LSU dropped to #10 in both polls and Boise State gets leap frogged by USC in the Coaches Poll.

Georgia is going to make some coaching staff changes at the end of the season.

One question going into the season was who would challenge Florida in the SEC East. Well, it's not Georgia, who was embarrassed by Tennessee in Knoxville. Inconsistency on offense was expected after Georgia replaced Matthew Stafford and Knowshon Moreno, but the collapse of the defense is a major surprise. Stephen Garcia and Ryan Mallett established themselves as legitimate SEC quarterbacks against the Georgia defense earlier this season, but Jonathan Crompton? Crompton may be turning a corner, but Georgia fans won't see it that way. Mark Richt should be safe unless Georgia's decision-makers behave like Auburn's did a year ago. But based on the first half of this season, it's tough to imagine Georgia standing pat with Willie Martinez and/or Mike Bobo as coordinators next season.

The thinking among a lot of fans is that he will try to stand by his guys...which might then lead to his demise...I don't see it. I think Martinez and Bobo are toast, I just hope we reach out to some talented people, instead of promotion from within, which got us the Bobo Nightmare in the first place.

I probably came across as too harsh. Sorry about that. I guess it just seems like your Nebraska posts go beyond the usual sports posts the rest of us make about our teams, and delve into excrutiating minutia, like what Bo Pellini had for breakfast last Thursday, etc.

'Bama is better than FLA and LSU combined.

Well, I've got a little distance from that Titanic performance Saturday and, despite my initial concerns, the sun actually did come up today and Christmas hasn't been canceled (YET).

BUT, this is the biggest crossroads that Mark Richt has come to in a coaching career that by any standard has been a success. He's coached a half a generation of players and followed the Bobby Bowden playbook of bringing a program to the upper echelon where 9-10 win seasons are the norm.

We're now staring a 7-5 or 6-6 season right in the face and there is no magic fix. The coaches we've brought along that have been part of the UGA family aren't getting it done. This side of management has never been his strong suit IMO and the decisions he makes in the next week to 5 months are going to effect the rest of his career.

I hope this all plays out behind closed doors unlike the FSU disaster.

UGA boys, would you be willing to give up "The Closer" Rodney Garner for a top D-coordinator? Some say that if he doesn't get the job he'll bolt. Just rumor though.

You had to figure there would be a major drop off this year, after losing MaSta, Knowshon AND Massoquoi all at once.

Totally but what has happened is it's become painfully clear that those guys covered up so many issues with our offensive play calling. We went 9-3 with those guys and without them we look like a high school team. Those guys turned nothing into something. I don't want to lay all the blame on the O-coordinator but the problems UGA have have been coming up for the last 3 years.

I don't have the #'s in front of me but our D has given up 35 or more something like 8-9 times now in the last 2 seasons. Between '01-'05 it happened ONCE. Knowshon and Staff don't play Defense.

What got us into the Bobo nightmare was Richt's even worse ability to manage the offense and be a head coach.

It's cool. I still disagree that the majority of my sport post are any different than the lot of you. I might be guilty of being an apologist for some rather vile former Husker players or brag about the 1995 Huskers a bit too often, but I never bring up the names of every one on the receiving corps or talk about the huge recruiting class coming in.
