Waiting For The Sirens' Call is all kinds of good.

Yeah, it's all pop, but it's NO-pop, which is much better than real pop.

Bump for the new day.

Best tracks are #2 & 3, I think.

A big meh to that, except for "Krafty" and the one before it. Damn, and I was really looking forward to this.

I heard a little bit in a record shop and it didn't leave me enthused.

There's an insubstantial feel to the whole recording, but it's not a shallow insubstantiality. More like a wispy gentleness that they're masters at. I really like the songs, but not because there's much substance to them. I like them because they're expert pop tunes in a climate that has nearly forgotten what an expert pop tune is, particularly on pop radio.

i've had this album for a while now, and agree that the only good songs are krafty and the title track (which is possibly one of the best new order songs of all time). the other songs aren't awful...except for that unfortunate "jet" song that i forget the title to right now.

pretty lackluster, in my opinion. Not horrible, but I don't see myself purchasing this one.

didn't they finish this like a year ago, then they heard "The Killers", and it sounded exactly like the album they just made, so they started again from scratch?

that's stretching it a bit, don't you think?

I have a feeling that defending this album will be like sticking up for the Pet Shop Boys. Or explaining why Marlboro light menthols are better than regular Marlboros.

Album's getting good reviews, though. Most of them include something about their consummate professionalism, uncanny feel for hook, mood and melody, and myriad imitators and acolytes.

Makes me feel like they're the new wave Ray Charles: latest is bland but has praise heaped on it anyway because of what they've accomplished in the past.

Anyway I like it pretty well.
