Guys,

Saw this band the other night, they were a last minute addition to a bill, they are friends of the promoter and they were in town, despite the fact that this was a hip-hop/electronic show.

Walked in a few songs in and did a double take, they were fucking killing. Hair flying everywhere and these guys were banging the shit out of their instruments. Being the first band on a 4 band bill is never easy, but people were screaming their heads off for more.

R.I.Y.L. Stones, My Morning Jacket, early Black Crowes, DBT, Elton John, Queen

This is alright.

Sounds like Kings of Leon's good stuff, with piano.

They are fans of Wax Fang, so I'll check them out.

As unlikely as it once seemed, this album is becoming one of my faves of the year. It's full of the kind of ragged energy and avalanche of ideas that make most albums sound comparatively dull. Just great stuff.

It's not too bad, actually. As far as the RIYL, I don't really hear any Stones or MMJ. I'd lump this in with the latter day Mottish glam of The Makers and Cobra Verde.

So, I never grabbed this debut, but there was some talk of it in the Twenty Ten thread. I gave this about 3 run throughs on my drives yesterday, and I can say that "I'm A Fan."

I had a suspicion that unless it was somehow an okey doke of PPDD I would enjoy an album that starts with a song called "Don't Break the Needle." My suspicions were met with a smile when I heard the first notes.

This has "9 PM after a 1:30 kickoff at Ben's tailgate" written all over it. I believe I have found my #1 of 2010.

Man I got to where the last album (the one in the top of the thread) just wore its welcome out entirely. I started off digging it, and then by the end I was outright annoyed when it came up on shuffle on the bike. I donno what happened.

Also that is some Jackson Hunt gear they've got there - tele into a JCM halfstack, right next to a Kustom bass head
