can we bring back the term JAIL just for this?

Recorded in 2006, she sounds fucking amazing.

I think 'Jerry's Pigeons' is about 8 min long.

Picked this up on vinyl in Nashville about 3 weeks ago and just played it for the first time this morning. Fantastic. It's all over the place and pleasingly warped. Pretty clear he was paying close attention to what the Talking Heads were doing when this was recorded. "DJ" sounds like a l lost Heads track. I guess that shouldn't be surprising given Eno's involvement. Still, enjoying this. Not sure why I waited so long to pick this up given how much I like the other Berlin era Bowie records.

Lodger is one of my favorite Bowie records. Pretty underrated.

For me:

Nobukazu Takemura - Scope
Memory Tapes - Seek Magic
Oneida - Rated O
Cul De Sac - ECIM
John Fahey - Old Fashioned Love
Robbie Basho - Guitar Soli
Jim O'Rourke - The Visitor
Kraftwerk - Autobahn
The Flaming Lips - Embryonic

One of the most adventurous records I've picked up this year. So much to sift through. I go from hating it to being completely rapt by it in the span of 2 (very long) songs.

Pulled this out after not listening to it in about a year. Much better than I remembered. Some of their best work here.

What else did you pick up at Grimey's when you went back that Saturday?

For some reason I keep putting off tackling this record. I have it on my HD at work. Need to burn it to disc.

heh. Just bored and killing time but I picked up that and the Collector's edition of Joy Division's "Unknown Pleasures". 2 disc deal with a live show from '79 at The Factory. Normally around $28, got it used there for $11.

Inspired by them playing in your car on our way home Friday night.

Also, I should note that that Circulatory System record is great. It's like "Black Foliage" part II.

4 track nirvana. Certainly something you need to be in the mood for but it takes me back to the Athens Elephant 6 days.

Absolutely! I've really been digging it... most of the time. You do kind of have to be in the mood for that stuff.

And I'm definitely in the minority here, but I actually prefer the first Circulatory System album to both OTC albums. It just seems tighter and more focused. I mean, 20-some-odd tracks, and for the most part they're all actual, good songs.

Its not on the short list of best Bowie albums but I think its probably his most underrated. I like the stylistic variations too and think its probably the album on which he most shines vocally.
