I haven't thought about this in any great detail, but I've been listing to the Avett Brothers, Dead Man's Bones, the Mountain Goats and Mike Doughty like crazy.

Well, here's the deal. I am a total fanboy(girl), but it's good. It's really simple (like, even moreso than his last couple of solo releases) and he draws a tiny bit more influence from Soul Coughing in little places.

I have it upped, you want?

That Cornershop is probably going to be my Number 1.
Unless, of course, I get the new Hop On Pop out by the end of the year, in which case, it will be my #1 (by default).

I like the new Raveonettes album. I think its maybe slightly better than Lust Lust Lust and miles ahead of Pretty in Black. Not their best, but the best they've put out in a while.

The new Brand New does almost nothing for me. Bleh.

neutered is a bit harsh, maybe compared to LLL, I agree, but so far I like half the album which is on par with their usual output with me anyway, they are not a band I expect much stray from origins anyhow
