Just watched this earlier. Very entertaining. I watched all the alternate endings too. Yikes.

That's the one I saw too. And then checked out this one:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XXGMVwfb8sE

It's not super clear but really different from the current ending and from what I understand the cop ending is the "original" ending and the others were filmed and screened once

*SPOILER*
The other one is where Katie walks up to the camera and slits her own throat but now I can find the clip

pontypool - was a different take on zombie/infection movies. i liked it. B-

amityville horror II - really cheesy, but fun. burt young is great. C

the hills run red - decent slasher movie. pretty gory and i liked the killer. B

nature's grave - remake of long weekend. the plot was along the same lines of the happening. it was pretty goofy and bad but there was an awesomely gory scene at the end. D

outpost - pretty good for a straight to dvd movie. kind of reminded me of dog soldiers but not quite as excellent as that movie. B-

madman - slasher movie from the 80's. it was alright if you're into that but not as good as some of the better 80's movies of that ilk. C-

deadgirl - this is pretty fucked up. part teen comedy, part zombie necrophilia. it worked well though. B

the changeling - good 80's haunted house movie with george c. scott. B-

drag me to hell - i wasn't blown away by this nor did i hate it. ok story, bad cgi, but it was somewhat fun. it's like an inferior version of evil dead 2. C+

trick 'r treat - pretty solid halloween themed movie with intersecting plotlines. some of it was a little predictable but it was good overall. B

carriers - i didn't really like this one. it didn't have an antagonist other than the disease. it was well made but i just really didn't feel like it was a worthwhile movie. C-

antichrist - it looked spectacular but i think it just tried too hard to be shocking and arty. i've never seen a lars von trier movie though so i'm not sure if this would be the best one to start with. C

Nice fake cover. I know Criterion really wants to put it out, but I think the already-out special edition pretty much covers whatever they would do.

I was thinking that cover may not have been released by Criterion yet or something...didn't realize it was a fake.

Yeah, thats been an ongoing "dream" film for them. I think its Paramount or Universal that they now have a deal with to scour their back catalog. I've been pretty impressed with this year's crop of films.

I haven't had a chance to watch it yet but Takishe Miike's Audition was just added to Netflix Instant.

the bad and the beautiful with kirk douglas, lana turner, dick powell, etc. a hollywood producer is a complete prick. three people whom he's done some bad things to reject him for his comeback project and then through flashbacks it's shown what he did to make them spurn the man who incidentally pushed them to become stars. it's pretty good. but it still felt wildly dated. had i been in hollywood in the late 1940s and known who these people were supposed to represent, i'm sure i would've enjoyed it more.

Its too bad the cinema-goers today can't appreciate satire, otherwise this would be ripe for a do-over.

you gotta stick with it. it's a little boring but goes completely off the rails in the last third.

I still need to see the original Nosferatu. I never really liked the Herzog/Kinski version, and I love Aguirre and Fitzcaraldo.

turner classic has been rocking this lately. it's pretty awesome. alloy orchestra's score is boss, but i don't think it's the one they use on tcm. i think you have to see them live to hear it.

Yeah, no cable. I don't live near any good video stores anymore, either. The Blockbuster near me is heinous.

I saw these lately:

Year One: Dollar rental, but I still should have known better. Just got worse and worse as it went. I couldn't wait for it to end.

Lust, Caution: Thought this was very good. Maybe the best Ang Lee movie I've seen, actually.

Our cheap ass landlord either cut the free cable from the building or Time-Warner finally came around to shut off cable we weren't suppose to be getting last week.
Thank God for Net Flix.

I finally saw this last night. It wasn't bad. I didn't really think Sean Penn was stellar in it. I was more intrigued by the Briggs/Anita Bryant issue than the whole Dan White ordeal.

I got this movie for under $5 when they started closing Blockbuster stores around here.
I enjoy it, and I have never been a huge Japanese Horror/Suspense film fan.

Where the Wild Things Are was good, and Zombieland was really good (far better than I expected).

The Invention of Lying...just was blah. Left me cold. And far too few laugh out loud moments.

This is ridiculously underrated. One of my favorite non-Disney/Pixar/anime animated movies ever. Beautiful animation, great characters, intense plot. It excited me when the movie released, and it excites me now.
