Ten Years In The Making! Konstantiranks: The Decade Disjumbled.

Disjumbled and placed in orderly fashion like a sort of Periodic Table of music from this decade, truly befitting of the Scientific Age in which we live; where process, mathematics and soldering irons lead to personal and societal Enlightenment. Not for us the dark age of faith in the declarations of false or dead gods (Christgau, NME, Pitchfork etc).

In order to create this list, I assembled a Scientific Measuring Device called the Konstantispectrometer. Built from some wiring and LEDs from a 200MMX Pro Sound mixer, some toilet paper tubes and an ear horn I borrowed from a deaf uncle, I set about building a machine which could actually analysis the molecular pattern of the air vibrations produced by music issuing from a speaker and then place a mathematic value to those patterns by applying the Socratic notion of idealised forms.

The idealised forms were pre-programmed into the Konstantispectrometer using cardboard programming cards that I encoded with binary using the spike of a belt buckle. With these cards I set the examples of The Five Great Artists in music history to serve as the Socratic idealised forms, namely Elvis Presley, Bob Dylan, The Beatles, Kraftwerk and The Sex Pistols. By comparing these idealised forms against the molecular pattern of the air vibrations created by modern musics the Konstantispectrometer was able to assign a mathematical value to the music under test in the following way.

10 - Exact match. Obviously no new music would exactly match any of the five great artists.
9 - Extremely close similarities to greatness.
8 - Close similarities to greatness.
7 - Some similarities to greatness.
6 - Not really any similarities to greatness.
5 - Not even close to not really any similarities to greatness.

Each track on each album was thus tested and a total come to by averaging out the total score by the number of tracks, which over the course of the experiment produced scores ranging from 5.50 at the low end of the scale to 7.90 at the top end. In total over 500 albums were tested before the deadline of November 1st, 2009.

Having now compiled the list I will post two albums per day from 3pm today, each day onwards until the end of the year working down from 100 to 1, each accompanied by a short review and a Greek aesthetic justified by the fact that the Greeks invented Science - if we conveniently forget about the Phoenicians and Egyptians, who suffered from the massive disadvantage of not being European and who therefore can be utterly disregarded.

I THINK that's 9am?

This fucker is doing a lot of talking about what he's going to do but not a lot of doing. I'm looking forward to the discussion fodder but i fear a lot of esoteric nonsense is going to rank in that top 100.

Yeah and that's shocking considering the rest of Obner only listens to pop music that you can sing along to.

Eastern time is GMT-5 hours.

So, subtract 5 hours to get your time (10 a.m.), unless the time change over the weekend has changed that, in which case EST is GMT-6 hours, or 9 a.m.

And, I'm looking forward to your ratings too, Kon.
