This broad has nice pipes.

Yeah she does though I think a lot of it is Winehouse-by-numbers with not as good songs/production

Martin Newell - E.P. 2
Martin Newell - A Rogue Shower EP

Both are pretty much just Martin, all by himself with an acoustic guitar, playing some pretty good folky BritPop. Melody is king, as always; and I like it like that!

Kid Congo & The Pink Monkey Birds: Dracula Boots

I read a review of this one that said..."If there were a Mexican version of The Munsters on Telemundo or Univision, this would be the soundtrack." Pretty close. Fans of Gun Club, the Cramps, Bad Seeds...you should recognize this fella. Great sleazy, spooky, swampy rock and roll vibe. A little lo fi with boatloads of echo. Sounded good driving home buzzed late night with a concert still clogging my ears.

I've been giving this a chance lately, and I guess I've decided that it's OK. Pretty big improvement over their last one, for sure, but it's still kinda slow and predictable.

For me today:

Circulatory System - Signal Morning
Super Furry Animals - Dark Days/Light Years
The Flaming Lips - Embryonic
Lightning Bolt - Earthly Delights
Fuck Buttons - Tarot Sport
The Knife - Silent Shout
Atlas Sound - Logos
Built to Spill - There Is No Enemy

Decent. Their blurb peaked my interest:

[quote]...We’re good friends with Thomas Function, Wheels on Fire, the Strange Boys, and think all these bands are headed in the right direction. Our influences are the Flying Burrito Brothers, Elo, Harry Nilsson, girl groups, among many others. We all like vinyl, vintage instruments, and strong coffee.â€
