First 3 tracks are great. 4th totally breaks up the feel of the album and I now (and forever more) will skip straight to 5.

Other than than, I like this a lot.

Interesting. And wrong. Track 4 is "4 Chords of the Apocalypse", which is one of the definite highlights of the set imo.

The Strokes' Julian Casablancas has told NME.COM he is to release a solo Christmas single.

The singer, whose first solo album 'Phrazes Of The Young' came out this week (November 2), said he plans to release a cover of festive tune 'I Wish It Was Christmas Today' which first appeared on US comedy show 'Saturday Night Live'.

"It was a fun thing to do. Everyone seems to do a Christmas song at some point, so I always said to myself I'd do that song," Casablancas explained. "I now checked that off the list of things to do!"

The track will be released as a download and a limited edition seven-inch single in December.

I know I was warned, but still.

I'm a bit surprised so many people like this. This is kind of like meringue with no lemon or crust.

I don't DISlike it yet. I'm not all mushy about the sonic pallet, but maybe I won't care if some hooks set in.

"River Of Brakelights" may as well have been snipped out of First Impressions. Sounds almost just like it, (which is to say I like it.)

What a crazy coincidence. You liked this. Pitchfork gave it a bad review. Then you didn't like it.

The whole record should have sounded more like this song.

It is absolutely strange that I liked something the first couple times I heard it and then my enthusiasm started to die down as I digested it.

When Tanner's on the hunt for causality, especially in connection with Pitchfork, it's best to just agree with him.

I forgot to listen to it for a week, but digging back in now it's not bad. I don't love the production but I do like the structure underneath. It almost feels like when Ween did a country album. It's still Ween, just done with different stuff I guess.

Now the choruses of the first 3 songs, especially 2 and 3 (Left & Right and 11th) are so goddam good to me. This is really growing on me.
