Raw Power-era Stooges Reunite

Hopefully better than the last go around with the original Stooges.

A few months ago, we heard hints of a possible Stooges reunion, which would feature the line-up that performed on their legendary 1973 Raw Power record. At the time, Iggy Pop had met with James Williamson, who took over on guitar when the now late Ron Asheton switched to bass, hinting that the singer had hopes of bringing the album on the road.

Now, these rumours are being supported by Williamson, who recently told Rolling Stone that the band are indeed forging on as Iggy and the Stooges.

I love hearing about people in bands who have successful careers outside of music. The guys from the National were apparently economists or something, Jim Eno from Spoon designed microchips. A friend of mine who made a mint from writing a small piece of code for Microsoft Excel fifteen years ago spends his days living off of it and fucking around in bands.

Still rocking hard. Personally I woulda gone with the black tank top... liver's bloated and dude moves like he needs a hip replacement. Did I ever mention the time in 1985 at Power Tools with Iggy and Matt Dike...

Amen to that.

And Williamson sounds rusty as fuck, but I still prefer this version of the Stooges to the Asheton era (even though Funhouse beats Raw Power).

Its really hard for me to slag on this, because I love this record, and Watt is one of my musical idols. But...yeah.
