Barnes and Noble stores and online. 50% entire stock. Just picked up about 12 films. Free shipping on orders over $25, and if you have a B&N card, it takes more money off.

This is what I got:

* Alphaville

* By Brakhage: An Anthology

* Bande part

* The Man Who Fell to Earth

* The Third Man

* Mon Oncle Antoine

* Science Is Fiction - 23 Films by Jean Painlev

* This Sporting Life

* Wise Blood

* Videodrome

* Seven Samurai

Might go back and pick up the new Wings of Desire pressing.

Yeah, I want as well but unfortunately isn't part of the 50% off deal because it comes out after 11/23. Incredible.

Still, $287 isn't bad for it.

I nearly bought the Cassavetes boxset for $54. 8 discs of all his films.

Sweet! I used to have a list of all the criterion collection movies I wanted to buy when I worked at B&N, but they were so expensive I only ended up getting one (The Wages of Fear)

I know where I'm stopping after work tomorrow.

I don't have one locally. Closest is 20 minutes away, so I was pretty happy that it also applied online.

They're enjoyable. I really like the Eclipse series that Criterion does. I just find that Malle's docs are good once or twice. Personally its not something I need in my collection.

Speaking of the Eclipse series, I almost want to pick up the Wm. Klein one just for Mr. Freedom.

Also the Wm. Fuller and the Larisa Shepitko ones are quality. I own the Shepitko one. The Ascent is a must-see.

I don't have cable so I watch usually a movie a night. Its no different than vegging in front of the tv and watching 2 Law and Orders.

If you buy enough from B&N then getting their card for $25 definitely lessens the blow as well. Even though I don't have one locally, it made sense because it dropped each discs price nearly $2 more each. Tax be damned.

In a word no. I live in a smallish town where everything is within a 5 minute drive.

This is a Borders town.

I made that decision long ago to stop buying movies, but then sales like this come up with quality films. I do watch them fairly frequently as well.

I also pass a Borders on my way to work (Princeton, West Windsor, and Lawrenceville have a shit ton of stores between them).

Picked up Tanner '88, Z, Hopscotch, and Le Cercle Rouge today on my way from work. It's going to be rainy all weekend so I expect to watch them all.

Yeah, I've been there and done that. Though, I'm mulling which movies to get. This time through, the card does nothing to lessen the blow besides free shipping. Also, there is a buy 2 get a 3rd free deal going on--but apparently it doesn't apply to these? I bet if I went into a store it might.

Oh man. Definitely going to hit this. Been eyeing some of the Criterion blu rays lately and this looks like just the ticket. Hopefully my local Barnes and Noble (which is over 20 minutes away) won't be sold out of the titles I want.

For other sales the B2G1 deal applied. I would hope it would in this case, too.

Just buy them online. Free shipping over $25 even for non-members. You can get an additional 10% off if you are a AAA member and enter through the AAA site. There are a lot of other coupons out there too.

I'm waiting for the 20th when the blu-rays of The Red Shoes and Black Narcissus come out since coupons don't apply to pre-orders.
