Also, I second Z. Hong Kong Blood Opera -- it will rock, even if it doesn't.

will do my usual 2-day SXSW Lite

when more of the schedule comes out, I'll decide which days

I'm wondering if the economic situation is going to result in the day party scene being curtailed a bit

I hate people too much to deal with masses of them, and that they're all hipsters on top of that...

This thread reminded me I was supposed to be saving all this year to go in 2010, but that obviously did not happen, so what d and shiv said, minus the ever having gone thing.

Hooray! Despite the fact these guys have been to Portland numerous times, I've never seen them. Closest I came was this past summer, when they opened for B-52's, but I missed them because it was raining like a mofo (did manage to catch the B's though). Note: the show was at an outdoor venue.

Also, just a little plug for a Georgia boy, but check out Shurman if you're able. They're playing the Continental Club on March 17 at 8 pm. Bloor, Gar and I know the band leader, Aaron, from our old highschool days.

I'm pretty happy with my schedule.

There's a few bands on it I never tought I'd see live (Kashmir, Bleu, Rival Schools) and a few up and coming bands i'm pretty pumped to check out.

Here's me annual podcast on the whole shinding.

Nothing against the bands or the sunshine, but I can do without the insanity. Don't need no music industry spring break.

HAVE FUN! See music. I've never succeeded in doing both in one SX.

It begins...

Just picked up the Platinum badge - Interactive starts tomorrow and I'm covering a buncha geeky shit.
Parties start tomorrow night. We've listed around 600 and there's probably another 200 or so still unaccounted for.
You can follow the action on http://www.austin360.com/music/sxsw-music/ and @360sxsw on the Twitter.

Paul gets into town on Mon or Tues. Phil's already lamenting having to haul gear all over downtown to an assload of shows. Fu's getting his SXSW cherry popped. Colin is unaccounted for, which should terrify everyone.

It's the best motherfucking time of year, indisputably. You all wish you was us.
