ANSWERS TO QUESTIONS:
1. This is phpbb3. That was most of the reason for the switch.
2. Quick reply will be back. It's actually a built-in feature of phpbb3, but apparently the template I chose didn't include it. I'm working on it.
3. It shouldn't be a problem to make the forum links work like they did on the old board, I just have to take a look at the html/css.
4. Agree re: login at top, cats. Once I get a chance, I'll move it on up.
5. Timmy, if you've got a suggestion for what quotes should look like, I'm all ears.
