Yeah, I find most of his work to be complete crap, but was impressed by the piece he wrote a few weeks back about Mangino, his weight issues and how it all plays into his inevitable firing.

That is a good summary of how I've been feeling about the issue. Every time I'm listening to a sports radio show in my car (which is often), and they start talking about this, I switch the channel (after a brief bout of yelling at my speakers). ;-)

I like Whitlock. He's never afraid to engage any topic, and he doesn't repeat the same old takes that everyone else does. When's the last time, there was someone who is too controversial for mainstream media and wasn't doing it for shock value?

He does write some dumb shit every third article though.

good read. j whitlock's column is the only reason i bother with sunday's kc star. and i always liked him on sports reporters - he would always challenge lupica. and did espn recently sack stephen a jackson? i don't see his mug anymore.

i'm always offended that Stephen A. Smith is associated with Philadelphia, just because that carpetbagger New Yorker writes for the sport section that nobody reads in Philadelphia.
