When I initially saw the two films in pretty quick succession I thought No Country was much, much better but I recently saw just the last 30 or so minutes of TWBB and was thoroughly entertained. The scene in the bowling alley is priceless.

Also, how the fuck is Traffic not on this list?

TWBB might be my favourite of the decade. That bowling alley scene was just the best. I want to be that rich, where not only do I have a bowling alley in my home but I can kill christians on it as well .

I still haven't bothered with TWBB. I tried to watch it the other night while buzzed and it didn't keep my attention.

Chris - Traffic isn't on the list because its not a very well made, entertaining, or even thought provoking movie.

I think No Country loses some of it's punch once you remember what is going to happen, but the first time through had the most incredible sense of dread running through the whole thing. One of my favorite all time theater experiences. It floored me.

"City of God" at #40?? Ridiculous.

"Eternal Sunshine..." is more overrated than "Titanic". Kinda how I feel about Gondry in general.

Still, some great, great films on there. Great decade for movies. Especially international films.

Nice to see "The Man Who Wasn't There" get some love.

Eternal Dogshit of the Indie Mind.

25th Hour is a fucking fantastic flick. Easy Top 5, and I have no problem with it being #2.

I think a bigger quibble could be made with including things like Wall-E, and A.I.

Children of Men is WAY too high. Its OK, but nothing groundbreaking or seriously noteworthy. And, Adaption is as bad or worse than Eternal Sunshine.

I don't mind "Eternal Sunshine" being on the list, but no way at #1. "Adaptation", on the other hand, shouldn't be anywhere near that list. The fact that even got produced, let alone lauded, is enough to send me into a fit of extreme violence.

And the fact that that list has an irredeemable piece of shit like "A.I." ahead of both "Pan's Labyrinth" and "City of God" shames the compilers.

Actually, the more I ponder that list the more pissed off it makes me.

"City of God" is probably my personal #1.

City of God was fantastic. I've been meaning to watch that again.

Yeah, WTF are A.I. and The Prestige doing on that list? Those are just run of the mill Hollywood fantasy flicks. A.I. must be making it on overreaching ambition alone. Prestige I just can't figure out at all.

Let's not compare A.I. to Wall-E, unless you want to do so to illustrate how a "kid's cartoon" can effortlessly best a pretentious piece of overwrought Hollywood crap in just about every single way imaginable.

I enjoyed Eternal Sunshine but have never had any desire to revisit it. I liked both Adaptation and Being John Malkovich ('90s, I know), but I think Synecdoche, NY is far and away Kaufman's best.

Glad that Mulholland Dr is showing up on so many lists, and I'm even more glad that Inland Empire isn't on this one. That may be Lynch's worst movie.

Awesome to see Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter… And Spring on this list. Great to see Before Sunset ranked so high as well. Incredibles, too.

The Squid and the Whale is another one that shouldn't be here at all, and Y Tu Mamá También, Memento, and Kill Bill Vol. 1 are way too high. Agree that Children of Men is too high, too, but I like it a lot so I'm not complaining.

No Country would be my pick for best of the decade. I enjoyed it far more than TWBB, but I'd still put TWBB in my top 20 or 30, easily.

I dug it too. Saw it forst on a plane, and then once again somewhere else. Not mind-blowing, but well done.

It was fine, I guess, but you can't tell me there weren't at least a hundred better movies from the past ten years.

Also, Eastern Promises should be on there instead of A History of Violence.

I actually don't know "over a hundred" better films from the past ten years, but I don't devour films like some of you guys. I can maybe see it in the top 50 I guess.

The Prestige was the movie about the two magicians where David Bowie played Nikola Tesla, right?

Also - United 93 and Zodiac: really that good? I never saw either of them.

Yeah. I'm with you. It was a servicable flick, but nothing to write home about. I never saw United 93, but Zodiac was a disjointed slog, imo.

And Kill Bill shouldn't be any where near this list. The first Vol was OK, the second was complete and utter crapola that pretty much ruined the first part.

Agree with all this. The running time is 2 hours 40 minutes. Probably could've cut about 30 minutes but then again, the long, drawn out nature of it kind of fit since it takes place over such a long period of time.

Great movie. Really captured the terror that the killer cast over the city. IMO, ranks with Fincher's best work.

I found it quite good at the time but haven't seen it since...I do have a feeling that any scene involving Michael Douglas would be cringe-inducing bad when watched now.

As for Zodiac I saw it in the theater and there were some good scenes but yeah, it was way too long and way too disjointed to be considered a really quality flick. Entertaining enough to kill an afternoon, but I've never had the desire to see it again.

Zodiac was really well done. The basement scene and the young couple killing scene are really creepy.
