Congrats to the Drive-By Truckers on signing to ATO Records. The band readies their 10th album, The Big To-Do on March 16, 2010. Patterson Hood is quoted in the press release describing the album as “very melodic and more rocking than anything we’ve done since disc 2 of Southern Rock Opera.” Great news, we’re sold. Expect the band to tour, as they always do, around this record. Here’s hoping they make up their canceled Milwaukee date from earlier this year.

The Big To-Do Track Listing:
1. Daddy Learned to Fly
2. The Fourth Night of My Drinking
3. Birthday Boy
4. Drag the Lake Charlie
5. The Wig He Made Her Wear
6. You Got Another
7. This Fucking Job
8. Get Downtown
9. After the Scene Dies
10. (It’s Gonna Be) I Told You So
11. Santa Fe
12. The Flying Wallendas
13. Eyes Like Glue
14. Girls Who Smoke (Bonus track – vinyl only)

Very cool. Knew it was in the works, and I suppose ATO will be a good fit. Can't wait until March. New album, another tour...lickin' my chops.

Good news for sure.

It'll be interesting to see how they've fleshed out "After The Scene Dies"; its been kicking around for a while (at least back to The Dirt Underneath tour)

I hope ol' Pat Hood isn't just yanking us there, like he did while describing his solo album as power pop. Because it's about time the DBTs got out of the turgid, mid-tempo rut they've been in since Decoration Day.

<--- Possibly excited.

That track list alone has me excited.

I have faith that they'll bring the rawk. I really wish Patterson would've just recorded his 2nd solo album live, 'cause the album was amazing when I heard him play it in DC.

Right now its 75/25 that I'm going down to Charlottesville for their 2-night stand at the end of February. Seems like it could be a good gig, and its less than 3 hours away.

Not a fan. I think this and The Opening Act are Patterson's attempt to put a Dylan/Springsteen story song spin on shit like Bob Jovi's Dead or Alive -- road weary, battle tested, etc....but sometimes (and I mean like 40% of the time) he bricks at this shit. These songs both qualify.

Since Dirty South? Sure.

Your dislike of "The Opening Act" is puzzling. Great fucking tune, especially the second part.

ATO has a nice little roster. Not bad for Dave Matthews.

MMJ
DBT
Brendan Benson
Alberta Cross
Ben Kweller
Radiohead

Very excited to hear this. I can't wait for the tour, either. "Opening Act" is the tits, btw.
