Not sure if you put this out as bait or not but this WAS an early Stones hit that the Stones covered.

IMO, it smokes the Beatles original. It's on the Stones singles colection. Never made a proper album I don't think.

I knew Lennon & McCartney gave it the Stones and they had a hit with it. However, even as a Beatles song, it sounds like the Stones to me.

Shiv, i would have held off on Beatles for Sale till you heard it.

I mean, I love it, but not everyone does and i can understand why.

it was like their 4th album (i forget how many eps) plus they had filmed Hard Day's Night, toured a bunch, visited america... all in like a 20 month span.

This one was clearly rushed for christmas, and it's got the darkest 1-2-3 punch out of the whole catalog. I do love Eight Days a Week and I'll Follow the Sun, but you can hear how tired they were.

Also, the inclusion of some weak covers after the milestone of releasing a soundtrack of all originals is telling. Luckily they bounce back hard with Help and Rubber Soul. It's insane how quick they went from Love Me Do to Norwegian Wood.

Beatles for Sale is one of my favorite Beatles albums. I think it made my Listmania top 10. I love the weariness, which is very evident. First, it portends that there is something more to this band as the songs are much darker. Second, I've always had an affinity for albums that are neither fish nor fowl. Clearly, this is a transition album, and you can hear that John is listening to folk records. Also, some of my favorite tracks in the history of the world - Eight Days A Week and No Reply.

i had downloaded it a few months ago when these were all released and enjoyed it enough that i'm not regretting buying it. i'll probably end up buying all of the albums anyway.

The problem is, that unlike The Dead, everyone wants to participate in things like this. And then you get 23 track by track reviews of albums. LOMIT.

I think that there is a near statistical certainty will be listening to that album here within a week's time.

I like it when everyone posts their thoughts in a single post so it's easier for me to know what to think.

You've been crying for a Beatles thread and then when it's hear you want a metal thread because it will be more interesting.
I don't understand you.

I suggest he's just always unsatisfied, as a character or a personality quirk.

Or perennially unsatisfied, it would explain the porn certainly and the complaints about the board. Granted that's not many examples to back up the hypothesis, but it's worth exploring.

would it explain the porn? really? i'd rather watch Sasha Grey vids than light candles and jack to the Dead any day.

Dj, you've come down with the dumb all of a sudden.

Yeah, more examples please.

Of course, I speak in jest. I'm sure in reality you're a fully formed personality that wants for nothing including self-actualization. But! If one wished to explore the Dalen character, the unrelenting and might I say, explicit and gregarious pursuit of porn and metal might suggest that you have a high libido and a need for company of like-minded individuals that is, wait for it, never satisfied or to use my parlance, someone who is 'unsatisfied'. That residual and constant hunger can cause a cognitive 'emptiness' that is often manifest on multiple levels, particularly within the affective realm, where there is also an emotional longing for what can never be achieved. The character's pursuit to fulfill his hungerous desires is unrelenting yet fruitless and is the singular feature of the personality.

And now let's play some Hard Day's Night.
