This would actually be a pretty decent conference:

WEST:
Fresno State
Boise State
BYU
Utah
Nevada
UNLV

EAST:
Nebraska
TCU
SMU
Houston
Air Force
Tulsa

I was thinking more like TCU, Wyoming, Colorado State, Boise State, Nebraska, BYU, Kansas and Kansas State. I wouldn't necessarily be opposed to Houston and Utah, but I think Utah gets the invite to the Pac-10. Colorado seems to have more in common with the Pac-10 schools than they do the Big 12 schools, but if they don't move on, they can stay in the fold too.

I think it's more likely that Arkansas will join the Big XII then other teams will leave beyond Missouri.

Bring back the old Southwest Conference!

There's absolutely no way this happens unless the Big 12 gets their shit together and allows/creates a tv network like the Big 10 or signs a mega-deal like the SEC has done with ESPN/CBS. From what I have read on Husker sport sites, The Big 12 ranks second to last of the Big 6 BCS conference with TV deals/revenue.
TCU seems to be the most logical choice for the Big 12, and overall they barely meet what Baylor has to offer the conference at this point.

That's cool with me. The Texas schools pulled one over on the on all the Big 8 teams who were tired of getting beat up by OU and Nebraska on a regular basis. For some reason the Big 8 caved into all the demands of Texas, when they basically had the upper hand over the teams jumping ship from a dying SWC who was riddled with programs on probation or under investigation.

I read this on a Husker site. It was included on that board due to the guy being the DC at Kansas State.
Georgia allegedly had no interest in the guy, then suddenly had a bunch of interest in him. It sounds like he was all set to come to Athens and then decided to take a job at Illinois?

What's the deal?

UGA is scrambling to fill the position now. Maybe other DC's see what we fans have seen in Richt? The lack of passion and inability to instill discipline in his players to play like champions.

Don't group real fans in with fake fans like yourself that only live to complain, Stu.

So I'm watching the end of the FCS Title game and the announcers said they are expanding the tournament field next year to 20 teams from 16 and won't play the I-AA title game until after January 1st.
I realize that 54 FBS teams now make bowl games, but I don't really understand diluting the tournament with four additional at-large teams and competing with major FBS Bowl games for television time. As it is now, they basically have to compete against the lowest tier bowl games and still play on a Friday Night in Chattanooga.

Fuck you Gar AND Stu!

I mean, did you really think we were going to get Kirby?

We are going to get someone hungry to prove themselves hopefully.

Had anyone ever heard of Erk Russell, Brian Van when they got the job?

No, but I think that we don't want to settle for the DC version of Gene Chizik -- someone we have to sell the players and the fans on. I think if we can get a fucking stud, then we should, and if we can't it shows something about where we are right now.

I think we're treading in dangerous waters, and that the wrong decisions this off season could lead to a period of mediocrity, and a right decision could mean a return to the heights of earlier this decade.

And, I still want Mike Bobo's head on a silver platter.

I love how CBK accuses everyone on the board of being a homer when they say anything positive about their teams, but jumps on Stu for tyrucking in his brand of 'hard eyed realism.'

If we were talking about a LOT of other coaches I might accept that, but not from a guy who has led us to two SEC's, three BCS games and the third most wins in the SEC this decade.

By the way, I missed this I guess, but ESPN ranks the SEC programs this decade. I'm sure LSU fan will be thrilled.

Granted, but the defense would like to point out Exhibits 1A and 2A: Tennessee 2007; Tennessee 2009. You might say it's an anomaly, I say it can be seen as part of a larger problem.

I'm not going as far as Stu, but I do think we need to be wary of our current position, and make a real splash to prevent becoming a middle tier team.

Although looking at this paints a better picture of the team's accomplishments. But like P-Funk we "Got to get over the hump"

I definitely see your point (and agree) but I'd rather get the right guy than just try and "make a big splash" because a lot of times, that shit just doesn't work out.

The SIX Top 10 finishes jumps out at me. We really are like FSU before they finally won one, just hanging out right there on the edge.

It's nice to know that our current coach helped LSU have their best 3yr run during the Decade, when they lost no more than two games a year and won a BCS Title.

Bo Pelini Stats
2005 - LSU - Defensive Coordinator -3rd Total Defense (266 yds.) 3rd Scoring Defense (14.2 pts.)

2006 - LSU - Defensive Coordinator - 3rd Total Defense (242 yds.) 4th Scoring Defense (12.6 pts.)

2007 - LSU - Defensive Coordinator -3rd Total Defense (288 yds.) 17th Scoring Defense (19.9 pts.)

Without Him
2008 - LSU - Total Defense 32nd (325 yds.) Scoring Defense 56th (24.15 pts.)
8-5 Record

Dwight Freeney
Julius Peppers
Robert Gallery
Haloti Ngata
Glenn Dorsey
DeSean Jackson
Ted Ginn Jr
Vince Young

Calvin Johnson should be on that list ahead of Ted Ginn Jr. but yeah, I get your drift. I'd also probably put Carson Palmer ahead of Vince Young as my 2nd team QB. The most glaring thing though is
Steve Hutchinson being on the list when he only played one year in this decade.

I also might put Lofa Tatupu ahead of AJ Hawk at MLB but I have a bias against slow white guys from the Big 10.
