worked flawlessly. i even went off the projected route on purpose to test it, and it corrected me with a new route instantly. i had the satellite mode on (which is very cool!), and even though the map image is not up to date for my street, it found it. the woman's spoken voice is loud and clear.

i also had on the "map layers" (very cool feature!!!) for gas, food, and traffic. it showed me where food and gas were as i was traveling, and showed me that i had clear traffic on the roads i used during the commute. if you wanted to hit up one of the restaurants or gas stations, u simply click on it and you are re-routed to that destination if desired.

in other words, fucking awesome.

im losing faith in this mytouch phone i have. shit laaaaaaags all the time, and im constantly going into taskmanager and ending apps pretty much right when im done with it. i press the txt msg app and i can count to 3 before it comes up and is ready to use. not cool.

i wouldnt. doesnt that run the old version of android? like 1.5?

Yes, but an update is rumored to be on it's way in mid-January. I got it and really like it.

Do you notice a lot of apps running that you never opened? I have noticed apps that I downloaded but never tried out magically were running in the background. I think I need to uninstall a bunch of the shit that was fun for about 2 minutes.

yeah, but i feel that the lag is more hardware based than software. hopefully im wrong, but ive noticed things from the get go (like a bit of lag/choppyness when i expand the big menu of items). but like for example sometimes when i back out of an app/press home it takes me back home and the icons arent there for 5 seconds, then the system catches up and the icons on my desktop appear. not cool.

and yeah from time to time i see apps open that i never use. like myfaves

i also notice a lot more error messages forcing me to force quit. nothing specific comes to mind, but these things have been happening a lot lately.

all in all, ive never been 100% blown away by this device and i have been thinking less and less of it as i have been using it more. and i dont do any hardcore apps on this so i know im not exactly pushing this thing to the brink. i'm just trying to txt, work email, and do a little bit of browsing here and there. all in all i like what android has done/is doing and maybe the droid phone is different, but all i have is what i know, and this isnt exactly giving me an incentive to continue to purchase another android-related device in the future. maybe i just have a dud, who knows

My wife and I both got the G1 a year ago. Mine behaves really well, hers is moody, like yours.

at this point, any iphone bashing is pretty much only directable at at&t, because it's pretty obvious the phone itself remains the gold standard by a mile

yeah i have said repeatedly that i would have definitely bought an iphone if it wasnt for at&t. the mytouch was absolutely the contingency plan. if the iphone branched off into multiple and/or more reliable service(s), i would terminate my tmobile contract and move to the dark side

i must be the only person in the country to have nearly flawless service from at&t - both data and voice.

my wife has a treo or something which is on at&t and she has no service in our house and we live on the west side of chicago. not sure if this is the same network that the iphones sit on, but its just silly

I'll agree the t-mobile coverage is a little spotty, especially on the highways between cities, but their 3G is pretty darn fast.

Give me an iPhone with a full keyboard and I'll consider it.

give me multitasking on an iphone, Google integration and the TMO 3G net, and I'll consider it.

until then, the myTouch has been sweeeeeeet.
