What are some must-have games and apps I should grab?

I am interested in a more comprehensive Calendar / Agenda app than the default one. What I really want is one that will give audio alerts and / or pop-ups to tell me I have a meeting / event coming up. Can apps for the iPhone / Touch do things like that if they are not currently open and in the forefront of the GUI?

I know it's possible for apps to do pop-ups/alerts like that but I don't know of a specific calendar app that will.

Yeah, like ebay (for example) does alerts like that and I'm sure there is a calendar that does as well. Report back if you find a good one.

I have about 40 apps. Use about 15 regularly.

Top 4 must haves:

geoDefense - best iPhone game yet. Rivals most console and PC games

Chess with friends - if you like chess... Essential. And free

Runkeeper - If you're a jogger/runner. Tracks and MAPS your run/walk/cycle, your km/miles per hour, total distance, etc etc. Then uploads it all to an easy to read web page. Genius. And FREE!

Sportacular - if you follow any professional sport get this. Up to the second score updates for the teams you choose, sent via push notification.

The included default calandar app DOES give you pop up audio alerts to dates and times you set. I use it for that all the time.

Any of you iPhone users using Waze?

It's a free navigation software that uses a database built from the data received from the users. It even has turn by turn, which isn't as accurate as my old Garmin, but it is good enough to get anyone where they are going.
I'm giving it a go until I get my Android update and I noticed they have it for iPhones too.
