Also, as much as I think FSU being in the Gator Bowl is a joke, I have to admit watching Bobby throw the spear in the ground was pretty cool.

As competitive as they have been in this game, I think they proved that they were just as deserving as say Clemson to be in this game.
I'm pretty sure Clemson screwed somebody out of the appearance last year due to having a larger fan base, and Nebraska edged Missouri out of the spot last year due to that reason as well.

They screwed FSU out of playing in it. FSU beat them head to head and I think they may have had the same record but Clemson got the bid instead.

I don't care how good they play today, a 6-6 teams simply doesn't deserve a New Year's Day Bowl. Complete joke.

Once again, the Pac-10 will have to spend several years proving they aren't soft and can play Defense.

Also, I can't fathom all the Big 10 talk that might occur if the top three Big Ten teams win their bowl games and finish in the top 10.

Buckeyes win with a wide open Pac 10/WAC offense. They looked strong.

well, it looks like an upset isn't going to happen...would have loved to have seen an epic tebow fail.

Yeah, as much as I would like to see Tebow fail in his last college game, in a way I'm glad to see an SEC team beating the shit out of a team that thinks they're able to compete on the same level.

I just made myself sick :nono:

Nice FG by the Bearcats, at least Florida won't get the shut out.

This game is a prime example of why the Big East is not deserving of an automatic BCS bid. I'm not going to arguing that the WAC or MWC deserve one either, but there's absolutely no reason to exclude them from an automatic bid when an unbeaten Cincinnati team struggles to play as well as a 2-10 Vandy squad did against the Gators.

If Florida scores a touchdown on their first possession of the 2nd half, Tebow should take a curtain call and allow his back-up to play the rest of the game.

Come on, guys. The Bearcats earned the right to be in this game fair and square by beating a lot of good and ranked teams. Florida is just flat-out playing awesome. We all knew they would come out fired up for this game after getting embarrassed by Alabama. We all knew the Big East team wouldn't beat the SEC team. You have to give the undefeated team the opportunity though.

@ TJ42 - I think they deserve to be there, but they're now learning the hard way if they played every week in the SEC that they wouldn't be undefeated.

The thing is most of the supposed "good" and "ranked" teams that Cincinnati beat are looking like absolute shit in their bowl games

Oregon State got annihilated by BYU
Fresno State was embarrassed by Wyoming
West Virginia got their asses handed to them by a 6-6 Florida State team
Pitt had to kick a FG to beat a mediocre UNC team, and they were essentially a failed 2pt conversion away from being in this game.

Like the Pac-10, I think there was an overestimation of the strength of the Big East this year.
And it clearly hurts their cause that the MWC is currently 4-0 in bowl games.

Nice Touchdown by the Bearcats, that only keeps Tebow in the game longer and encourages Urban Meyer to hand a half hundred on the Big East Champs.

Tebow broke Vince Young's total yardage record in a BCS game, too bad for him it occurred in a game that didn't guarantee an unbeaten season and a National title.

Florida basically went MC Ren on the Natti. Sorry, TJ.

With that last touchdown by the Bearcats, they at least scored as many points as UGA did against the Gators.

Stay Classy Gators. :wanker:
I'm not surprised, but you'd think Urban Meyer would know how to win with some class by now and act like he's been there before.
It's one thing to continue to score at will with your 2nd and 3rd teamers, but it's another to keep a former Heisman winning QB in there during the 4th quarter when the team already has 500yds of total offense.
I hope he enjoys that heart attack next time he's coaching in a losing cause to a quality opponent.

WOO! Bearcats score another garbage TD.
I'd go for the onside here if I was Cincinnati.

Tim,
The Offense wasn't too bad against the Gators, who kept most of their star players in there to the end. The Bearcats just need more overall team speed, a running game and to focus on the Defensive side of the ball a bit more.
I don't know if you'll ever get there, but I can't wait for that Oklahoma-Cincinnati game next year at Paul Brown.

Also as bad as this loss might be, it still isn't the worst loss by an unbeaten team in a BCS game that belongs to Oklahoma in 2005, if you don't count Florida's loss in the 1996 Fiesta Bowl.

other than USC, pac 10 teams never recruit for or just can't get those huge athletic interior d-linemen... instead they get speedy small guys. a lot of those guys are talented, and that works fine against most teams out here that run a spread or throw the ball all around the field, but when you line up against a really physical offense, it gets exposed. i could tell this was coming just by understanding that oregon's d-line and o-line wouldn't hold up.

Anybody else think it was weird that the new Cincinnati coach was just lurking about the sidelines while the interim guy coached the game?

Haloti Ngata would be the only exception to your rule recently that I can think of. I would think of it as "never recruit" versus "can't get", but I can see where certain quality Defensive players might avoid some Pac-10 teams. It's sort of the same reason, why Texas Tech has always had that issue getting over the hump.
It just seems like there is too much focus on maintaining a fancy, finesse offense and not trying to correct errors in regards to defensive mentality. I don't personally think you need "huge" D-Linemen, despite the fact that Suh is a beast. The SEC Defensive mentality and that which Miami, Nebraska and Florida State were using to win titles in the 80's and 90's is essentially to have one immovable force on the interior D-line who is quite agile and to play with incredible ferocity and speed at every other position.

I thought it was totally weird that the Cincinnati coach had already split for Notre Dame, the UC interim coach was already the head coach at Buffalo, the new UC coach had the old UC coaches job at Central Michigan, the Florida coach quit then took a leave of absence, The Florida offensive coordinator was going to be the fake head coach in a day, and the Florida defensive coordinator was already the head coach of Louisville.

Coaching fiasco.

The NCAA should implement a new rule saying that coaches shouldn't be allowed to switch jobs or interview until the last game is played. (Unless a coach gets fired.) It hurts the players and the programs.

And furthermore, if coaches can jump ship anytime they like, leaving the kids they recruited behind, the kids should be able to transfer without waiting a year to play. And they should be paid. And, a playoff.
