Can anyone tell me any possible reason why the Bengals would want to win today? No matter what happens with the NE/HOU game, the Bengals can stay in the 4 seed (Look, we're not making the playoffs, but I'd rather take my chances with this Colts team in rd 2 rather than those Chargers) AND get the Jets again by barely showing up today. Conversely, if the Bengals win, we get the chance to play Denver, if NE loses, or the Ravens, if NE wins? Funk that. As much as I'd love to see Denver, the Pats are going to handle Houston and I want no part of trying to beat the Ravens 3 times in a season. For the only prime time game of the year, I'm not going to enjoy tonight very much as I'm cheering J-E-T-S.

We would get home field advantage if we are playing anyone other than the colts or chargers...right?
Does anyone have the #3 seed locked up? We almost beat the Chargers, so I am more comfortable playing them than the Colts.

I think the Colts have proven that slacking off at the end of the regular season is not a very successful tactic for postseason success.

Anyone want to explain what the fuck Aaron Rodgers is doing when he celebrates his rushing touchdowns? I've seen him do this a few times now...he kind of squats and motions his hands around his waist, like he's showing off a belt or something...does this have something to do with wrestling? He looks stupid when he does it.

From looking at the ESPN playoff projections, if today's current results hold:
Both the Cowboys/Eagles and Packers/Cardinals will be playing each other again next week.

Falcons finally break the most Fail-tastic streak in sports: 45 straight years of never having back to back winning seasons.

Its disappointing that we didn't make the playoffs but the truth is, with all the injuries we would probably be a first round exit anyways. I give the team and the coaches a lot of credit though for pulling out what could have easily been a 5-11 or 6-10 and finishing 9-7. We can build on this!

one final, resounding MEH to the miami dolphins 2009 campaign.

like bloor on his falcons, i'm glad we didn't make the postseason...i couldn't handle another embarassment a la the ravens last year. still a lot of work to do, but overall i'm encouraged by henne's development this year, our rb situation, and our young cb's. needs EVERYWHERE else on this team though.

i hope it's the last time i see the following players in dolphins uniforms: TED GINN JR, gerbil wilson, pat white (hope yr ok after that hit though), J PEEZY, jason allen.

i really have no clue who will get to the super bowl this year. i could be persuaded to put money on nearly anyone right now.

I'm trying not get my Dallas hopes up, but they look damned good. If Roy Williams was a real #1 receiver, or they didn't have Wade PHAILIPS at the helm, I would be much more than my current cautiously optimistic state.

Gotta figure Vikes and Saints still favored in the NFC, though the Saints look like they may be playing the role of Dallas in 06, and the Vikes are only as good as The Ol' Gunslinger on any given Sunday.

Chargers and Colts gotta be the favorites in the AFC - and even though The Colts have actually won one, they both have a tendency to STB in January.

Anyone know what the players from the SB teams who make The Pro Bowl do? It's not like if the Vikes are in Favre is going to go toss a few for the NFC right?

Ol Polly Positive showed up over here. Agreed on one thing.........thank god they actually did finish above .500 so we NEVER have to talk about this again. I know it's a sign of a good franchise to be consistently good but this whole streak just feels utterly meaningless when you don't make the playoffs.

I'm just glad the writers and talking heads can't talk about it anymore.

Can anyone tell me the last time 3 sets of teams have played re-matches in consecutive weeks? There's a possiblity of this going into the 1st round of the playoffs.

Bengals/Jets; Packers/Cardinals; Cowboys/Eagles.

They should make the last week of games be AFC/NFC match-ups, so this doesn't happen.

I'm looking really forward to the re-match. We should've won the first outing.

Yeah, I think the Pro Bowlers who are also in the SB will sit.

During the Miami/Pitt game yesterday the commish addressed that. He said, obviously players can't be punished for not playing, but he hoped everyone would. He said that there are plans to make the pro bowl count for something in the future. He dropped "draft picks" in there somewhere, which I have no idea how that would work. I doubt whatever teams are in the sb will let their players in. As Gumbel said--if someone is sore about losing in the playoffs...

In such a team oriented sport, the Pro-Bowl has always been pointless.

Nobody's hotter than San Diego and Dallas right now. The Packers, maybe.

And they have somehow managed to make it more pointless, methinks.
