That movies thread is a beast so I'm taking it upon myself to create a new one. I've been at home with a new baby so I've seen a lot of stuff lately.

Pretty solid horror movie. The only thing that annoyed me about this movie had to do with the interviews of the directors that can be found on the special features. The way they talked about the film was as if they had completely invented this genre and The Blair Witch Project never existed.

Image

Gomorrah
My expectations were way to high for this one. The reviews I read made me hope for the second coming of Goodfellas, which it definitely was not. Certainly not a bad movie, but I found it to be a little boring at times. This is probably due to the fact that they kept it as real as possible and didn't spruce it up with any bullshit.

4 months, 3 weeks and 2 days

100% solid movie. Great acting and good structure for the story it had to tell. Certainly not the most entertaining movie of all time, but that's wasn't really my expectation. Not sure I would consider it the number 2 movie of the last decade as Metacritic has it, but still very good.

Avatar

I liked it a lot even though it's cheesy as hell and the script is borderline terrible. Not really too much I can say about Avatar.

Wow. I watched this one for the curiosity factor. I can't decide if it's completely useless or 75% useless. The footage of the concerts is perplexing. You have a movie where a good chunk is concert footage yet you fail to do a good job of recording the audio of the concerts. Very odd to me.

Probably because its not a concert film. Its a classy porn with the characters attending concerts.

We finally watched 'Burn After Reading' last night.

I was a little dissapointed, as the Coen brothers have never failed to impress me with their flicks, but I was a bit bored at time...Brad Pitt was basically the only highlight of the flick.

It's funny, I remember walking out of T2 when I was like 13 and saying "that liquid robot guy was pretty cool, but that movie kinda sucked."

Never really felt the need to see much Cameron after that. Even The Abyss was only @ half good until the Aliens saved Ed Harris and it was teh dumb. Never watched more than preview of Titanic.

That's my lame attempt at humor. Avatar's detractors say it's basically Dances with Smurfs in Space.

Then you missed Cameron's greatest movie - True Lies.

Eastern Promises:

From a couple years ago, but just watched this. I don't remember a lot of hype about this movie, but I thought it was great. Of course, I studied Russian in school.

actually wasn't as horrible as i anticipated, but i had very low expectations. it really annoys me how every single movie is so obvious with setting up sequels these days.

saw this trailer and am really excited for:

Watched this because it was featured so highly in so many best-of-the-decade lists. It was alright. A pretty movie that seemed to come close to really having something to say only to maintain an ambiguous, arty distance. I'm not really sure what I wanted from it, but watching it made me want to re-watch Gummo.

Inglourious Basterds

Finally saw this. Really, really liked it. Pretty much the perfect movie for me. I love Tarantino and WWII. Cristoph Waltz's performance was as amazing as everyone said. A lot of my friends have told me they hated the movie and I can understand. It was marketed as if the Basterds were in the movie 95% of the time. They were in only about 1/3 or 1/4 of the movie.

Food Inc. - Really well done. Not as doom and gloom as this subject could have been. That southern pig/chicken farmer was awesome.
