None of mine do. As I'm writing this my room mate is listening to the new Backstreet Boys cd with the volume way up. He has tried to convince me how good it is, but this is the same 23 year old guy that likes High School Musical and the Disney Chanel. He's a nice guy and all, but I'm not sure I would have moved in with him if I knew about the stuff he liked. Most of my friends have shitty taste, especially country music. I get it, I live in the south, but it still sucks. The only music that I usually agree with them is rap, but my rap tastes are fairly mainstream.

I'd say 90% of them get all their music from me...

For me it would be 5% obner worthy
25% radiohead/postal service/shins lovin' oatmill wranglers
70% bottom feeders (had one friend try to convince me that the Hoobastank album was the best of 09. Shudder.)

Most of the people I hang out with are local academics, artists and/or musicians so while many of them listen to the Obner worthy stuff I might not like, I'd say they have decent taste.
I'm usually a step ahead of most of the people I regularly hangout with thanks to the various uploads on this site and album sites like Bolachas.

That's all well and good, but the question was "do your friends have good taste in music?"

these days I am down to 3 friends with whom I have any interaction. one has ok taste because I interceded a couple years ago. one has pretty good taste because I interceded about 10 years ago. one has horrible taste because I never even tried.

Most of my friends have pretty terrible taste in music, but oh well, doesn't really effect anything.

For the most part they do not. And, I am fairly sure they feel the same about me. They're old and stuck in whatever era they grew up in and not much beyond that. Some are stuck in genres only, like blues, country, or bluegrass. Occassionally I turn them onto something, but its usually the ladies that appreciate it moreso than their significant others.

I always seem to have a coworker or two with really good or at least really respectable taste. Most of my college friends seemed to have great taste when we were in school together, but they've all dropped off considerably over the past several years. High school friends were all pretty bad except for the one guy who started getting lots of stuff from me when I went off to college. General friends now would probably break down to a percentage pretty much like what toots posted.
