Some reverse global warming happening in South Louisiana. I live in S. La to avoid cold weather. This is miserable. I dreamed of sweating through 5 shirts this morning as I froze through a shower.

Srsly.

AJC is reporting that there are 10 water main breaks all over Atlanta this morning due to the freeze.

We don't do this kind of cold.

I've dressed up like I was going snowboarding when I was really just going to work the last two days. If only "moving further south" didn't mean "Florida" I'd seriously consider it.

Further south for me is Haiti. That may be a step up in quailty of living.

It was a balmy -11 degrees here in Nebraska without any wind chill. We are suppose to get another 2-5 inches of snow on top of the 12"-18" inches already covering the ground from the two previous blizzards.

Global Warming while generally the correct term for yearly temperature average increases is a complete misnomer, since the phenomenon involves extreme climatic changes on both ends of the spectrum.

Sure when the temperature goes down to -15, the ol' nose starts to glow but, hell, you'll never feel more alive.

I love winter, it's the best of times.

If you hate snow, you hate life.

I love snow as much as the next person, but you can only take so many days of getting up to single digit weather, gray skies, and frozen sidewalks. Plus the snow on the ground here is powdery, which is great for skiing, but tends to cause frequent white out conditions on the open highways.

The City of Lincoln has already spent half of the snow removal budget for the year, and the official winter season is less than a month old.

So it's going to be 15 or 20 degrees warmer in Boston this week than in Atlanta?

No shit it is freezing here. Afternoon never cracked the 60 degree mark. All week is supposed to be like this and getting colder. Maybe in the 30's tonight.

55 - 65 is the perfect temperature range

it's something like 18 here, but it could be worse

Sorry if this offends you, but this comment reminded me of one of the broadcasters who was calling the Poinsettia bowl earlier this Bowl season and was complaining about the high fifty degree temps in San Diego as being "freezing" or "too cold".
Craig James, his partner in the announcer's booth, was also one of the broadcasters for the Holiday Bowl a week or so later when the temps were roughly the same, but involved a slight flog and some drizzle. They brought up the guy again and made fun of him for his comments, since the temps around ESPN headquarters in Connecticut had been snowy and actually freezing.

Yeah . But it is forecasted to be our longest cold snap in a decade, so definitely not what we are used to around here.

I hate to rain on your parade but I know about this. Most people do. I wasn't being serious about global warming. This isn't a political thread.

I just moved back to North Carolina from Singapore recently and this cold weather is brutal. I got to used to it being hot all the fucking time and now it's below freezing for a whole week.

Nashville is colder than Atlanta, but I don't mind it. I might if I was a little runt or a girl or something...

I can get behind this thinking. I'm a big fan of cold weather.

Nah man. Can't speak for SoCal but the South, in general, gets hit once or twice a year. It also depends on the region. I mean, Atlanta rarely gets hit with more than a dusting or an inch but an hour north in North GA it gets it a few times a year. Not much more than a couple inches if any accumulation.

Then there was the anomaly in the Blizzard of 1993 when it dumped over a foot of snow all over the South and Clinton declared it a disaster area. The only time that's happened in my life. We aren't prepared for that kind of shit. Like, simply don't have the equipment for it. We stock industrial sized air conditioners down here.

Point being, it's all about what's normal. This currently isn't normal for us and the weatherman is calling for possibly a night of snow Thursday. BUT, next week looks to be back to the usual; upper 40's in the day and 30's at night. That's pretty normal for this time of year.
