also, one interesting thing i have found with the shitty camera is that if you are shooting a picture of a moving object behind a window/glass door or something, it comes out clear. whereas in the past you and you subject have to be completely still for some semblance of a clear picture

It's a hard reboot...sort of like restarting windows. (Hate to make the comparison.) The problem with the blackberry is it never shuts down, it just goes into a sleep, so when the software malfunctions the only way to fix it is to pull the battery and kill all power.

hey robotboy, check this out...

http://androidforums.com/motorola-droid ... truth.html

"there really is no need to have a task killing app. linux systems are made to handle memory different than typical windows does, which is what the majority of people are familiar with, and makes us want to kill every single background process.

ive been running completely fine without any task killer. i've found that changing settings like window animations (settings > sound & display > animation) will have a better, more effective effect on speed."

dude, i unistalled it, and everything seems a bit faster, with zero lag on anything.

try it out.

"This is not windows.
it doesn't matter how much stuff is running in the background your phone wont slow down. Task killer interferes with automatic updates and email."

ok i couldnt really see a substantial increase in performance when removing taskkiller. maybe it was a little better. but the problem with removing that is that it leaves all those apps running which drains the battery hardcore. so, gonna have to reinstall it.

i dont know if it's because i think i got a mytouch around when it first came out so maybe there were kinks with it or whatever, but this thing has fallen out of favor with me. my contract is up this september. kinda looking forward to that. hoping iphone/at&t gets their shit worked out by then.

and why isnt the android market working now.

FUCK

no dude, they don't drain the battery.

as long as you have your wifi and disable gps (only use them when you need to) your battery will last. this is the same with any phone.

the Nexus One just came out today, and looks amazing.

wifi and gps is always off, and the battery is at half capacity after half a day

oh, i don't know, the improved Google navigation with voice, Google’s Voice Keyboard - every single text field is now voice enabled...no more typing, the fact that it's the fastest device available now thanks to Snapdragon chipset, the OLED screen is the best available blowing away even the iPhone, Google Voice integration, the beautifully clean new graphical touches, and that it’s also the fastest and most elegant smartphone on the market today.

that's just a few things.

I'm an Engadget reader, but I post there even less frequently than I post here - I agree plenty of Ipod happy dorks post there - but I'm hardly a fanboy and it isn't my only source of info though :)

Early this morning, we asked our readers to test their 3G speeds to see if T-Mobile had completed their HSPA 7.2 3G upgrade. Based on the results, it looks like many customers are experiencing faster download speeds (over 1 Mbps) and improved latency.

We checked in with T-Mobile and they confirmed that HSPA 7.2 (faster 3G data service) is now enabled across their entire network. Now that HSPA 7.2 is available, T-Mobile will work to continue their upgrade path to HSPA+, which offers downlink speeds up to 21 Mbps.

The following is an official response from T-Mobile USA:

As data consumption by smartphone customers increases, T-Mobile continues to expand and upgrade its network to provide customers with an increased capacity and improved data speeds. 2010 begins with T-Mobile’s 3G network reaching significant milestones to support current and future smartphones:

* T-Mobile’s 3G network now reaches more than 200 million Americans
* HSPA 7.2 (faster 3G data service) is now enabled across T-Mobile’s entire 3G network
* T-Mobile is the first carrier to launch the even faster HSPA+ in the U.S.

While other carriers talk about 4G plans and the promise of compatible devices, T-Mobile will speed ahead with HSPA+ deployments across the bulk of its 3G footprint this year, delivering 3-5 times the speeds of today’s 3G. And the best thing about the HSPA+ upgrade is that it’s backward compatible, so that T-Mobile 3G-enabled devices will be faster in 2010.

i have used the x10 already. i'm not sure that i'm sold yet. i was using obviously a prerelease unit with beta firmware, but still....

prob i see with the nexus one: no multitouch. design is a bit lackluster. $530 is a shitload unsubsidized. still, it's the best hardware anywhere close to t-mo, so i may have to do it. i get a feeling the $530 is going to drop in the near future. think i'm holding out a few months to see.

another question: why is the plan offered by google 79 bucks/mo with only 500 minutes? the 79 plan on tmo gets you unlimited minutes. i don't get it.
